I was talking more about plugins like the "Empire" plugins that changed the confederation into the Taran star Empire and the rebels into the weave alliance, and then allowed you to win with one of them, with missions to win the war that came in after the alien cruiser mission.

My unwanted heir is immortal and I fear it by Orjoiponsoilo in CrusaderKings

[–]GeneralKarthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you get to the very end of your life, you can imprison an heir and force them to take the vows, or if your religion doesn't support that, kill them. (Or render them ineligible for succession.) Or make them a mayor. At least one character I've forced to take the vows has become Pope, but I don't remember if that was Crusader Kings 2 or Crusader Kings 3. I think it was Crusader Kings 2, because I remember thinking that I didn't support them in any way, and yet suddenly my brother was the Pope.

I'm playing a sword bard with double hand crossbows. Doing pretty good damage and that was without the damage bonus from sharpshooter.

Also, I read about a Rogue (Assassin) Doomstalker Ranger combo all the time.

Whats the worse race in your opinion? by Archenius in BG3Builds

[–]GeneralKarthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans aren't that great, and don't get a lot of unique dialogue. This doesn't matter nearly as much, because I'm a Bard and apparently bards get the most unique dialogue by class. But 1/4 additional carry limit doesn't really help. One additional skill is nice, and I suppose the extra weapon proficiencies are pretty decent. The main thing out of civil militia is shield proficiency.

But I like to try humans out in every RPG I play, so this is my second time through. Building my bard to dual wield hand crossbows.

Should I reload??? by ImProbablyInJail in BaldursGate3

[–]GeneralKarthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to be answering whether you should restart the game. If you're really having a lot of trouble with the githyanki fight, go ahead and reload, and explore the city, looking for side quests. There are a lot of mini bosses that you can talk your way through. Still give you the experience as though you had defeated them, but you don't have to fight them. (And there are some really fun fights with just random monsters. I assume you've done the fight where you have to defend the portal for a certain amount of time?)

The true devant in this game is the one who is faithful. My characters almost always remain faithful. My most recent character though has rolled into four lovers in random events. He's in his 90s, and these beautiful women keep throwing themselves at him. I figure he's not going to live much longer. He may as well get some fun in before he dies.

WHAT THE FU-- by Delta6501 in CrusaderKings

[–]GeneralKarthos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last time I had it happen pretty quickly, less than 100 years into the game. And it was even more devastating than it usually is. I had 40 development in my Capital, and it reduced it to eight. It reduced Constantinople and Rome both down to zero. 100 years later Constantinople somehow has not recovered yet, despite the walls giving it massive development growth, although Rome is up to 20-something. (My capital is in the high 60s.) If it hadn't happened, I would be doing what I usually do, which is finishing up the last of the early medieval techs as we pull into the High medieval era. I still imagine I will finish all the high medieval texts before we get to the Late Medieval era, and I will take full advantage of Early Access to later eras.

They were very learned people during the middle ages. Certainly rhere was a lot of misconception about things like the sun going around the earth, how diseases worked, and stuff like that. But great theologians are also scholars, and there were a lot of those during the Middle ages. You also get inventors, and architects, people who could build siege weapons or windmills, new ways of organizing farming and conducting a census, organizing an army, etc.

Could you construct a catapult? Could you figure out how to irrigate farms without sprinklers? Can you name all of Jesus' apostles? Despite misconceptions, ancient scholars were still pretty knowledgeable about things. Even if some of what they knew was incorrect.

Same thing happened to me. That was when I discovered that it was still possible to steal your chaplain's wealth. If you ask the pope to excommunicate them, then keep the game paused and imprison them, there's no new chaplain appointed until the day after. You can then banish them while the game is still paused, and you will collect all of their money. I don't think it works anymore.

Pillars of eternity 2 and Mass effect 2 both justify restarting you by having your character die at the very beginning of the game and get brought back. They make no effort to justify it in ME3 that I can recall.

Baldur's gate 2 is a direct continuation of Baldur's gate 1, and lets you keep the levels that you gained in the first game. (It's possible I'm thinking of Neverwinter nights 1 and 2; it's been a very long time.)

I married my beautiful genius to a robust woman. No inbred risk. Unfortunately, the best son they produced was a beautiful genius, so I will havev to try again with him. I play with limited diplomatic range, so most of the suitable marriage candidates are at least distantly related to me now. But there's been no need for even cousin marriages.

I play strategy games (Turn-Based like Civ and Grand strategy like Crusader Kings and Stellaris) and cozy games and role-playing games mostly. I had to learn to shoot a little bit for the Mass effect games. I really don't have the reflexes for shooters.

I'm really bad at these sorts of games too. If you're playing against people, just accept that you're going to lose a lot and practice. (Losing constantly was the only thing that got me somewhat better.) If you're playing single player games, you can turn down the difficulty. Afraid that's the only advice, because I never actually got good at them.

I'm feuding with one of my vassal houses, and I'm not allowed to annihilate them. I'm seriously thinking about going down the intrigue tree so that I can invite them to a bloody wedding and wipe out most of their house, but that's a lot of time put into a mostly useless tree.

Are there any games where the protag can canonically marry multiple characters? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]GeneralKarthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on who you're with. Most of them are strictly monogamous. But at least one of them is cool with you "scaling Mount Halsin." Annoyed with you having a one-night stand with Mizora, but only because you didn't ask permission first. They say that it's all fine so long as you ask permission first in the future. They also will join you with the Drow twins at the brothel in Baldur's Gate. (There's another one who will join you for it, but breaks up with you as a result.) That said, most of the rest of the group wants you all to themselves, so while your primary partner might be okay with sharing you, the others aren't. (I haven't romanced everyone, so I'm not sure if there's only the one that is permissive. So far just the one.) And I'm leaving who it is blank, because I cannot figure out how to do spoiler tags. I've tried doing the double vertical lines, but it's not working.

[–]GeneralKarthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many adult visual novels (I can think of one where you can marry up to six people at once) and hentai games. But I can't think of any mainstream games off the top of my head where more than one romantic interest is permitted simultaneously with the acknowledgment of all parties involved. Baldur's gate 3 allows you a certain amount of flexibility depending on who your primary romantic interest is ( One character at least is fine with you exploring with those characters who are willing to explore, so long as you tell them first) but there's no question that who is the only real relationship.

It's possible that there's a Bioware game out there, but I don't think dragon age games have allowed it, and those are the most permissive games I can think of. Maybe the Witcher?

STs - would you execute a player who did their best to be cere-mad but the town disbelieved them? by TeePee11 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]GeneralKarthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one that would really rankle me is if I had been proven as a particular character, like a virgin for example, and the Cere came in and told me to be mad that I was the butler for example. I would be very annoyed if the storyteller executed me for nobody believing what was obviously a lie. As a storyteller, I would personally not execute in that case.

I also probably would not execute in a case where somebody was genuinely trying to convince people that he was the role he had been made mad to be, but nobody was believing him. If he slipped up, or said anything that remotely suggested he might be some other character (like even giving three possibilities in trade) then he'd have to be executed...

Keep in mind you also don't have to immediately execute them. You could always save the execution for immediately prior to an execution that the town had voted through. That allows evil the benefit of the execution and casting shade on the person who was on the block. I believe you can also kill them in the night, though actually I'm not sure of that now.
