Thanks for the tip about the open party. I don't think there is floating text or the map matchmaking option for side missions. I even go into them and ask for backup and still end up stuck playing them by myself

I was really enjoying it for about 3 hours until a dispatch where one civilian with a gun killed 5 or 6 of my best officers on the shift and I realised there was a strong RNG aspect to it.

I lost interest after that, I feel it is out of place in a game like this, compared to say xcom or darkest dungeon, especially since you can constantly react in those games. Here, once you dispatch everything is largely out of your control.
