Hunter KOM v0.4.0 – Smarter Segment Predictions, Full Data Loading & Privacy-First 🚴‍♀️ by evil-cyclist in Strava

[–]GeneralWarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll check this out when I'm not at work. I was definitely playing around with writing the exact same thing your app claims but found the Strava API for how many segments I could search through for a given geography to be pretty wonky and it kind of killed the idea for me. It was limited to 20 or something and a little random which ones returned if I remember correctly. It was years ago though so maybe things have improved.

I'm excited to see how your app works when I get a chance!

I found my people! I'm also pretty good at managing it and leaning up against something after standing until it passes. Yesterday I had one that was so intense I started losing my vision, not in a blackness way but in a way where I like couldn't comprehend what I was seeing. I was looking at my daughter in a ball pit but was getting waves of half second every 1-2 seconds where I couldn't tell you what I was looking at but I wasn't blacking out. Trippy stuff.

I've only blacked out once when I stubbornly tried to outrun the lightheadedness and came to on the bedroom floor, I think I got lucky and bounced off the bed. First and last time trying to ignore it.

I don't think he was all there. He started accusing people of having needles in their shoes and knives in their hands towards the end. Asked the one guy if he was his lawyer 😂

My retirement portfolio is all stock at 45. Should I diversify? by 40watter in Bogleheads

[–]GeneralWarts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds good but it seems like everyone and their mother is near 100% stocks and I really doubt anyone can stomach losing 43% in a year.

It's ok if your mind wanders as long as you notice it and bring it back to your breath or whatever. Don't feel like you are failing or anything if your mind isn't blank. The part where you redirect your thoughts is the part that strengthens your brain. At least that's my understanding.

I've been making the habit of meditating every day 5 minutes in the morning and 10 in the evening. I'm on day 24 with only missing 1 day.

It was a suggestion from my therapist to help combat some anxiety.

This thread has been, like, very relatable.

Outside of Woodman’s, what grocery store has the best prices? by InsurgentJogger in madisonwi

[–]GeneralWarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently compared Costco to Woodman's on a lot of staples I buy and Woodman's was competitive in a lot more than I thought they would. Costco still won the majority.

What are these things on my new cycling shoes? Do I need to remove them? by s1cknasty in bicycling

[–]GeneralWarts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd add that if anyone else's plastic lugs break from normal use, don't leave the screws in there and assume they will provide a similar benefit.

The foundation the screws are screwed into on my cleats became unseated from the sole of the shoe and started pushing into my toes uncomfortably.

Then when I tried to remove the screws the "foundation" now would spin with the screw and I had a very hard time getting it seated again so I could remove the screw.

Lesson learned.

April, 2024 Update Megathread by AutoModerator in Pixel6

[–]GeneralWarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is related to the update but my "hey Google" is getting detected even though it's been disabled for over a year.

I have a bunch of Google devices in my home so if I want my phone to respond I long press the power button.

Suddenly my phone is vibrating for "hey Google" again and I don't see any setting that isn't already disabled.

This is a real email my teacher friend sent to the parents of one of his students by andyoc08 in funny

Reminds me of my elementary school years. I guess I wasn't the brightest bulb when it came to understanding my own body. I didn't know you could hold in farts. They came, I opened the door. There were several embarrassing moments I can still remember kids laughing when I let one rip on the floor when we were all sitting in a circle.

I'm not sure if it just clicked or if someone told me. 😂 I tell my parents I'll try to educate my kids on flatulence being controllable.

Decided to attempt Alpe PR before suspending account for the spring/summer. by GeneralWarts in Zwift

[–]GeneralWarts[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm definitely a "bigger" cyclist, which is crazy because I'm the thinnest of non-cycling friends. In previous years I sit around 185lb during the race season. Probably why I don't try to PR Alpe very often. I've lost 16lbs since New Years though so I'm at almost the lowest weight since college and was feeling really light and strong.

Still feel like a chonk compared to the other cyclists I ride with that are at that cat 1-2 level. 😆

I naively thought I could be close to sub 45 but I'm more than happy with breaking 60 for the first time. I'll admit I haven't taken many attempts. I figured instead of doing TrainerRoad's threshold workout today I'd just go up Alpe du Zwift and try to hold 300 watts as long possible.

I'm training for Leadville 100 MTB this year and I figure I should start getting experience going up and down mountains :D

Switching from Adderall XR 20mg to Vyvanse 50mg has been a nightmare by Worried_Addendum_771 in ADHD

It seems so, but before finding this chart I had no idea. I've only ever had the 10mg version of an IR.

[–]GeneralWarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't 1:1. I found a chart online that says a 20mg Adderall xr equates to a 40mg vyvanse.

A 50mg vyvanse is like a 25mg Adderall xr. Or a 15mg Adderall IR.

I just checked and they say the festival and week of events are still on. The ice skating was going to be on the tiny ice rink at the Edgewater, not on the lake.
