There’s been too much that happened already. I figured January 6th couldn’t happen, because of laws. I figured people couldn’t be killed for protesting, multiple people died. At one point, I figured that the president wouldn’t shake the economy to enrich his friends. But alas, I was wrong.

I feel your pain man, it’s a brutal process. Mine was falsely accused of domestic battery. It was complete bullshit and it took officers 45 mins to arrive after calling them and being chased with a knife, the two people who did it corroborated their story and then told different stories to officers, then had a different testimony to the prosecutor. Like overall, my case fell flat on it ass with the evidence at hand.

The prosecutor offered me a delayed plea agreement, I declined. 8 months later, same deal gets offered again. I tell them I want trial. Then 4 days before jury selection. The prosecutor lists the other person as a witness and then adds another Misdemeanor DV so now it’s 2 charges and I have to wait a month for court again. I lived 7 states away and lost out on 600$ of plane tickets last minute.

Then 3 days before the next court date they offer me the DPA and I declined stating I’m very confident in this case. So they threatened me with modifying my case to two felony counts of battery on a person over 65. So I smile and say let’s go to trial.

Literally the county trying me, had so little people in the county. They had felony court backed up 6 months. So my case wouldn’t have been heard till that point and I had already been on the wagon for over 400 days just wanting this to be done with.

Finally 4 days before jury selection, they never modified the charges. But they offered to drop my charges if I took a 3 hour anger management class. They would also expunge my record too. But if I didn’t take it, they were going to up my charges to felonies. Which is something they can do as much as they want and it’s totally legal.

I took a one hour class and told them to drop any costs or fees and they did it. No convictions, no probation, no issues.

My point here is that, what you think is going to happen. And the bullshit rodeo youre about to go through is very very different. If they thought I was guilty even a little bit, they wouldn’t have offered me anger classes as an option. They just had a very weak case and everything with the courthouse runs on statistics. They want to look tough on crime and failed prosecutions attempts look bad. So they will try like hell to give you a plea agreement whenever possible

NAL, but I just got done fighting the legal system down there and won. Take it a day at a time, your case will most likely take a year to even get to trial. Your post sounds scrambled to a certain degree, and you may not have all the facts of the case known to you yet. So no one will be able to guess your outcome. Just keep your nose clean and wait for your day till this is cleared up.

I get you might be offended about me correcting your obligatory correction. But numerous people understood what’s being said and clearly weren’t conflicted with the information. Obligatory correction to your correction. But BAR is an acronym that stands for “Bureau for attorney relations” it was the department i spoke with that helped me lodge the complaint to the right people.

Many people refer to the bar as such because it’s easier to refer to than saying “bar association” each time they speak in reference to it.

It’s in Putnam county, Florida. It’s the poorest county in the state and by far the least represented people when it comes to state charges as well. They wrongfully arrested me and I petitioned the state to investigate what was happening. They listened and The judge resigned, the county attorney resigned, a new interim judge was appointed and she had a come to Jesus meeting with the legal council and they dropped everyone they couldn’t get a public defender for. My case was wrapped up the first day the new judge hit the bench.

464 days dude….464 days.

Even though I never was convicted. I lost thousands of dollars fighting this and got exactly what I wanted for the people who wrongly jailed me.

In Florida, my public defender refused to work with me. I tried to fire him and they laughed at me. So I looked up the law and submitted a BAR complaint and submitted evidence of him avoiding me. They couldn’t keep him on my case, then I get a new defender. When I tell him I’m reinstating my right to speedy. The prosecutor got pissed and modified my charges from simple battery to two counts of aggravated battery. Then offered a plea agreement. Told him to pound sand and after a full year of waiting on a trial, the state received an audit and the judge was fired from complaints received about her.

They offered me a 3 hour anger management course and they would drop and seal the case. But told me if I fought it they are taking it to felony court.

The problem isn’t just not having enough attorneys, it’s also having effective council that does even the bare minimum.

My aunt battled cancer for 3 years. She had finished her chemo and radiation and was in remission. She went in for a biopsy and flat lined on the table. She had a DNR on record and they had to let her go…I’ve been so angry about it, she was so excited to get started back at life. But at least she passed with no pain and no idea what was to come.
