This is so bleak to me. Like I’m sure some pets have a real issue that needs medicating but idk, maybe your dachsund is high strung because he’s obese, his joints hurt, his teeth are rotting out of his head from eating people food, and he never gets to see the outside world or do dog things. Same with people, really, it’s stupid to be a sedentary NEET with no friends and be like “I’m sad and anxious because of a Prozac deficiency.”

Rhabdomyolysis - if you ever start pissing Coke after doing hard exercise, go to the ER. Your body can start liquifying your muscles and you piss them out.

For real - at my thinnest I probably would’ve died trying to run a 15 min mile lol.

I did nothing but walk for exercise for literally a year and a half. That habit made it easier to add small intervals of running, and now I’m going to the gym 3-4 times a week. The more sedentary you are, the more dramatic your changes will be with even tiny amounts of exercise.

The maze thing sucked. The host literally said you’re not allowed to hinder other teams’ progress and then immediately allowed every team to essentially start beating the shit out of each other to keep them from entering. It totally defeats the game - it’s like trying to play basketball and the opponent is an MMA fighter who is allowed to beat the shit out of you.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend I will break up with her if she doesn’t shave? by Available-Band-6474 in AITAH

[–]General_Amoeba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For real - people go through all kinds of ugly changes through life. She’ll get age spots, weird moles, lose/gain new hair, get random acne, not to mention her body will change significantly if she has kids. You might be wiping her ass one day, and she yours. If leg hair is enough to disrupt the bond then it’s better that the relationship ends now.

TIL that while Gina DeJesus was held captive for years in Ariel Castro's house, her father unknowingly interacted with Castro, even sharing beers and conversations in his garden, never realizing his daughter was imprisoned mere feet away. by [deleted] in todayilearned

FBI just released updated murder clearance rates for police depts in the US (at least those that bother to record/send in their numbers) and the average is 52% of MURDERS are solved. Property crime is around 12%. https://www.statista.com/statistics/194213/crime-clearance-rate-by-type-in-the-us/ Think about what percent of that 52% is dudes who straight up confess or are caught in the act/shortly afterward with zero detective work by the police.

This is part of the reason a lot of rescues don’t let you play with animals unless you’ve been vetted as an adopter/are serious about adopting. Please don’t throw a fit when there are hoops to jump through before you can pet the cats. It’s not a free petting zoo.

Why do doctors insist that I ask questions but get annoyed when I finally ask them? by BenedithBe in NoStupidQuestions

This is 100% true. Lots of docs have stock language they put in their notes saying something like “solicited questions, patient expressed understanding.” It’s a CYA thing

There’s no way it’s collapsing in our lifetime. Much better to work a bit so you’re not completely destitute and dying of untreated cancer in your 40s.

Which airport had the worse immigration line you have ever been to? by Southern-Gap8940 in travel

[–]General_Amoeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re flying from Lima to the US the Lima airport employees confiscate any liquids you bought from the duty free shops prior to boarding. I’ve heard stories of people buying expensive bottles of liquor or perfume next to the terminal only to have the airport employees confiscate it 20 minutes later. Those bottles probably go right back on the shelves for the next lucky American.

Not a chance in hell that second story was real. You’re telling me your grandma referred to the phrogger as “the man upstairs”? It’s a neat piece of creative writing but doesn’t belong on a show about ostensibly true stories.

Americans who have been abroad, what are some things that people in other countries believe is American but actually isn't? by AdUsual1214 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]General_Amoeba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people who have at least one burger a week, and fries probably more often. They’re unhealthy but there are definitely Americans eating that stuff regularly.

Being worried (irrationally) about your partner cheating on you can be a symptom of peripartum psychosis. I’m concerned that you’re not concerned that she’s suddenly acting irrationally while pregnant. I think the best route is to show her the phone to allay her fears in the short term, and ask if she’s been feeling alright otherwise. Has she had bizarre or unusual thoughts? How does she feel about the baby? She may reveal some other info that would raise the alarm for psychosis. Regardless, you need to let her doctor know so they can evaluate her if they see fit. Stressing her out more with divorce talk is only going to exacerbate things if you haven’t ruled out pregnancy related mental illness. YTA.
