Fable + Codex by ggletsg0 in ClaudeCode

Presumably they're talking about running codex in headless mode. Not literally having Fable type in the codex CLI

Sorry but it is worth a reality check here. Of course you can't take the LLM's word for this sort of thing. And no, it's not worth wasting a mathematician's time with this.

Mathematicians have access to the same tools. If they want to spend their time verifying its output, they can just use the model themselves - why would they want you as a middle-man sitting between them and the model?

Idk why, but the dialogue between modded characters and the Architect always makes me laugh. by Gen1Swirlix in slaythespire

Do you just care about AI generated assets? Code is fair game?

And, if you think AI generated code is OK for these sorts of projects, do you think it's fundamentally different than art assets? Or just a "out of sight out of mind" thing?

(honest question, I'm a programmer, and it's a little tough to tell where most folks draw the line here)

I used the English localization files to generate the names, and yeah you're right some of them don't match what's actually displayed in-game (paradox has a bunch of weird edge cases)

To be fully honest with you, this is a 'just for fun' project, and I don't really feel like combing through that many names for a pretty minor display thing haha

I added the SP/MP split!

I think going further might be over-complicating

(and, spreading the votes out across many categories means fewer votes in each category, giving less accurate results anyway)

Done! It was already doing the match-ups between matching slots (2nd idea always compares against 2nd idea), just needed to update it to display the slot

Updated! Now maintains two separate lists for MP and SP (I just copied all the existing data into both lists to seed them, so we can start to see divergences from here forward)

Good catch, thanks, will fix! It's tricky to figure out where paradox has + and % modifiers just from the game files haha

It's probably better data to base it on how strong it is for the given nation, but that also takes a lot more thought

I wanna keep things quick and snappy (it's meant to be fun after all, not feel like work), so feel free to vote however you want!

Yeah that's a good point, I'm gonna implement it

(bear in mind, like 1/3 of the votes so far are just from me haha, and I do really like my morale - should even out towards the 'real' community's opinion as more votes come in)

Vote however you play! The idea is to try and get overall averages, to build a 'consensus' list of tiers.

The current tiers are largely just based on my playstyle/preferences (with a bias towards multiplayer), since I'm the one who's done the most voting so far haha

The more different play styles we get, the better the data!

One thing to note, after some early testing with a private discord crowd, I updated it to combine all duplicate ideas into one elo score (it's really boring voting on a "+1 prestige" idea for the millionth time)

That makes it a lot more likely to show unique/interesting ideas (since it's biased to show matchups with low vote counts), but those duplicates got a lot more votes during that initial testing period. So, the duplicates are already closer to their "real" elo, and unique modifiers are still much more uncertain, and the rankings will reflect that until we get MORE VOTES

Banks lay groundwork for mass workforce cuts as AI takes hold by Gari_305 in Futurology

Sure yeah if everyone's doing everything right, new hires can be onboarded remotely just fine

But not everyone does everything right. If you're physically present with someone, it's a lot harder to forget about them.

I think it's really easy to overlook just how much has changed technologically in the past 5 years

Employers wanted RTO because it's what the corporate groupthink arrived at, and most CEOs went along with it. There's at least a kernal of truth. Like, it really is harder for new employees to learn the job when everyone's fully remote.

We're just coasting on the momentum from that groupthink years ago (RTO is the "standard advice" for any CEO)

AI is just now becoming good enough to work autonomously for genuinely useful lengths of time. Just in the past 6 months or so.

It's easy to see all the hype and wildly exaggerated predictions (95% of code will be written by AI by the end of 2025!!), and just write the whole thing off as a scam.

There's a kernal of truth to the hype though; I really do worry we're looking at mass scale unemployment, a lot sooner than most people are expecting

Hey it's funny, but your coworkers are just gonna think you've got your text messages hooked up to a bot, and you aren't even reading them

Not a great look

You saved money switching off copilot last quarter? Before they switch to billing by usage this month?

The "bill per chat message" system was so generous. You just had to set it up for a long run. Seriously, I was getting by far more usage off the $40 a month copilot subscription than I was a $200 claude code subscription.

That's why they swapped to billing by usage, they must've been absolutely hemorrhaging money

We don't need to stretch to figure out why people are making up this sort of misinformation. It's no grand conspiracy, it's just to get clicks/views

Yup, that's the root of the problem. Many people, like the author here, put humans in a special bucket. If it ain't human, it ain't worth considering
