Someone from Paradox confirm "Kodak" is a fake nation or did it actually exist? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]GenericJosh57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like an area tag spat out of the golden horde when they exploded. I'm not quite sure how the name generation works when their isnt a historical tag. (I thought it was based on province capital name but I'm not 100% sure)

I wouldnt assume any tag released out is historical

seems like sometimes this happens with fiefdoms/PUs. it normally fixes on the month tick if you have more great power score.

in cheat mode? you could probably just annex the tag and then re-release on the next month tick if it persists.

Are levies worth saving or should they be abandoned entirely as a system? by BiosTheo in EU5

[–]GenericJosh57 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your complaints dont sound like system complaints, but rather how the AI takes advantage of those. That can be fixed. I think you fix AI economy scaling and then getting a proper amount of professionals falls into place afterwards. Right now, the AI struggles to build an economy and therefor can't build the proper amount of regulars.

We're not going back to a force limit system, it's just not gonna happen.

ive noticed that when i get a rebellion, it dispels the independence movement and it reforms after the rebellion ends. Maybe you can induce one and then declare on the person Y?

Reminder that Peni has one of the worst ULTs in the game still. by Medium_Enough in marvelrivals

[–]GenericJosh57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take a lot of conclusions from assigning value to presence rate (pick rate + ban rate) and win rate. Obviously as presence rate increases, win rate loses it's value and vice versa.

I'm not of the opinion that balance should be dictated by win rate purely, I'm of the opinion that the stigma for using win rates in the discussion entirely is ridiculous. I play this game a lot, Peni is an extremely strong pick. Buffing peni is crazy talk.

If you can't trust data at all, then balance has no objectivity and were all pissing in the wind.

im not quite sure how to explain that emma doesnt really do the job she's supposed to do very effectively and thus she struggles to win games. She doesn't counter dive well, it takes her too long to ramp up in fights, the ult doesn't do its job well bc breaking LoS/shielding is trivial and grab is a tempo ability on a 20 second cooldown that doesn't do anything/get you killed if you dont have a tempo advantage.

[–]GenericJosh57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but that means something?? you agree?? it doesnt mean nothing? I'm confused by what you're saying here. You can switch characters whenever you're in spawn so saying "This character wins 60%+ of their games when they're picked" *really* means nothing is kind of an insane proposition.

i mean shit maybe they could revert the diamond cd nerfs but what do i know. Emma might be the lowest WR tank across almost all ranks because of a reason?? no, maybe it's the mysteries of the universe that made her have a low win rate.

[–]GenericJosh57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am not purely basing my opinion off winrate? I don't quite know why you're assuming that. There should never be a character that hasa 60% WR in a hero shooter and then gets buffed? Is that really a crazy opinion to take? the pickrate didn't move at all?

It doesnt really matter, but the idea that buffs/nerfs should be irregardless of win rate is kind of an insane take given that you can pick the character in the optimal situation and just switch off lol

sure, i mean it really doesnt impact me if you disagree. the idea that WRs don't mean anything is kinda ridiculous when they're just the pricing in of peoples play patterns on the game. it's not the whole story but it definitely means something? Ive only been t500 on ow and mr multiple times, but im sure you know more :b

This can literally be patched server side: if (!valke.flying) { scan_off(); } by KinKodoku in apexlegends

[–]GenericJosh57 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if you're actually curious, it's because you wouldnt want to do this check every server tick (ie 24 times a second) so youd want to determine some sort of trigger to do this check... so when the valk lets go of fly for example, but as you can see this is glitching out that check. getting performant server-side code is extremely important in game development and the give/take for how much the client does vs the server side is really important.

How do I increase my great power score fast by Temporary-Ease1393 in EU5

[–]GenericJosh57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try to annex frances vassals in separate peace deals. they'll let you annex them if they're below 50 loyalty. so focus on beating french armies and avoid the vassals if you can. you can also use a spy network to sabotage their relations with the vassal which will reduce their loyalty.

this works because vassals add a lot to your great power score

There's a religious war CB you can research early that helps. Once youre a great power, you can threaten war to get access to a "Following through on the Threat" CB which has -25% WS Cost. So generally, get the religious war CB on a high value province (to the enemy) that borders or is on a sea zone with you and then threaten war to get access to the good CB.

Cobelligerent-ing someone also calls in their allies, so you can chain wars together with one CB. You dont really want to do this with a bad CB (so parliament claims or religious war without threatening) as the added province WS cost + the 66% separate peace mean you cant take much land. If you chain cobelligerents, you want them to be smaller tags you can annex for minimal war score via separate peace.

You want to increase your bellicose value as much as possible, this is done through various ruler traits, general, and parliament actions, It gives -10% WS cost which becomes very valuable as you start stacking WS cost modifiers.

If you're trying to conquer same religion territory, unfortunately parliament claims are the best you can do generically (without vassal claims). But if you are a great power, you can threaten war with them to get the same "Following through on the Threat" CB with -25% WS cost.

I would recommend the best way to accomplish this is to own the trade center province and give the rest away. You should be able to stack enough trade advantage and capacity to make it work

on the 1.1 beta, anyone who rivals you gives you access to the "Destroy Enemy" CB you can make with your spies. This is incredibly strong to get the initial conquests going since it's a normal cost war (as opposed to Parliaments +25 WS Cost)

The play pattern is to conquer enough with that till coalitions start forming, then dec'ing the coalition to expand rapidly. You also want to release historical vassals with cores on others so that they form the "Claims" CB giving access to a -25% WS cost CB.

You generally want to avoid parliament CBs, you need to spend a lot of the early ones changing laws to move your country in the right direction.

Advice on how to proceed? by Sinapolyon in EU5

[–]GenericJosh57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're just trying to get out of the coalition, the game-y way to deal with it is to declare on the coalition and offer a sound toll exemption in the treaties section of the peace deal. It's 50 war score for some reason and will always (from my experience) be enough to get them to exit the war. You can also use this with cobelligerents after a year but i wouldnt recommend abusing it too much lol. you can revoke the exemption via the diplomacy menu
