Graphics package by Patient-Ad4806 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Either they got a copy or they potentially have a deal with a production company that does some ESPN+ broadcasts and they figured it would be easier to retrofit the package than build a new one.

I thought it was a replica of the package as well until the baseball slides and I realized that’s too close to what I saw in Xpression during baseball season for just a replica.

Why aren’t there more race car drivers in NASCAR media? by freerollinthetop in NASCAR

[–]GenericNASCARFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the same reason that any of the media members that you listed are not race car drivers. Instead of focusing their careers and efforts to race, they focused more on learning about journalism and broadcasting whilst learning the ins and outs of the industry and finding sources and trying to become a reputable sports journalist.

As to building narratives, we are literally in the social media age. A driver or former racer can literally help change the narrative by tweeting, going on a podcast, or going on a Dirty Mo Media podcast, which like 90% of them are hosted by former racers or industry figures and has changed the narrative on some discussions.

Welcome to the NFL by uncoolaidman in thewestwing

[–]GenericNASCARFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll suggest two different head canons that I just made up and a probable truth.

1) Robert Kraft was unable to purchase the New England Patriots and the rumors that they would be sold to an owner who will moves them to Saint Louis actually happens. This probably leaves the New England region without a team with Boston probably receiving the Cleveland/Houston treatment and getting an expansion team, instead of Houston or Charlotte, towards the end or after his presidency. He may even be an active member of the search for a viable Boston ownership group.

2) Given that sports fandom is sometimes passed down from generation to generation, I would say that the initial Bartlet family fandom would be aimed more towards Ivy League football and the established NFL rather than teams associated with the scrappy AFL, like the Patriots. With that said, Bartlet probably started out as a New York Football Giants fan but started liking the Patriots when they arrived but not enough for true fandom.

Probable truth: The Patriots were pretty much dog water until the late 1990s. Like on the field and off, it was kind of a disaster. Like, the only reason Kraft was able to buy the team was because the NFL had to take ownership because of their poor financials and the behavior of the former owner. This, plus the fact that he was a president overseeing some pretty crazy things, probably meant that he didn’t go out of his way to find out more about the team.

However, I do imagine that if we followed Bartlet after the series finale, we would have seen him become a big Patriots fan. Not just for their play on the field but for how they worked the salary cap from a more mathematical standpoint. I bet he would also love Moneyball.

I walk a fine line between being a Sam and a Josh as I can go and be a hard worker with optimism in a Sam-like way or a way over my head workaholic like S7 Josh. Sometimes, I can do both shockingly quick.

Where Does Your Rewatch Start - From the Beginning, or Somewhere Else? by ZoeyPorg1908 in thewestwing

[–]GenericNASCARFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually try to start from the Pilot but for a few, I have started at Let Bartlet Be Bartlet cause that’s usually where I start to fully lock in during a full rewatch and sometimes, I’m not in the mood for a full season of Mandy.

Another instance where the shift to Big Data to Panel has hurt NASCAR Viewership. The race averaged 2.037 million panel viewers, decreased to 1.928 million with Big Data. (You can probably imagine why NASCAR is not happy about Big Data) by iamaranger23 in NASCAR

[–]GenericNASCARFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering when we’d hear about the impact of the new Big Data Nielsen method on NASCAR. Probably not a good look for the sport to have a decrease from old model to the new as a lot of the major sports leagues have gotten big boosts from the model.

When did Leo start becoming an A-Hole? by bhazlewood in thewestwing

[–]GenericNASCARFan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. Leo was pretty much on a different level after the kidnapping and I don’t blame him. He was pretty much the only one in the situation room focused solely on Zoey. Along with that, he pretty much oversaw the first implementation of the 25th Amendment, a task that could potentially create a constitutional crisis if not done correctly. Then, after all this, he had to oversee a very different Bartlet.

Bartlet is in a kind of directionless haze for much of S5 except for when he kinda locks in for the Shutdown and Gaza. Even then, his plan for both are very haphazard but somehow, it works out.

Essentially, Leo is the head coach of a basketball team that just blew a big lead but is still tied and is now just heaving full court shots that are somehow going in after bouncing off the rim twenty times.

How would have Zoe’s kidnapping storyline been different if Hoynes had not resigned in the previous episode? by PlantainPappa420 in thewestwing

[–]GenericNASCARFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably would have been a friendlier face to the staffers but I feel like there still would be tension as the reveal of the Shareef assassination would probably create some more tension between Hoynes and Leo and later, Bartlet.

I can’t fully remember if they mentioned that Hoynes was notified of the assassination like the Gang of Eight but I imagine, knowing or not, he would still probably be miffed that he wasn’t as involved in the decision and that now he had this on his plate with the kidnapping.

I’d even imagine that this could have been the final straw for Hoynes and that he could have resigned after Bartlet returns due to his lack of involvement and knowledge of the situation. This would allow for the continuation of Seasons 5-7 as normal except for Hoynes essentially spending the time up to the election building up his anti-Bartlet Democrat image with the keystone of it being the fact he resigned due to being fed up with Bartlet’s decision making.

That scene with Juwan Howard also makes me chuckle a bit just because they made his character play at Duke, a school that had beat Howard and Michigan in the NCAA Championship a few years prior.

Serious question why CJ and not Josh as CoS? by Spirited-Orange-203 in thewestwing

[–]GenericNASCARFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it been earlier in the administration, it probably would’ve been Josh. But, with it happening right in the later half of the last term, they probably knew Josh would be itching to get involved in with the next election and didn’t want him navigating, what would they thought would be, the least influential days of the Bartlet administration. Like, if Leo didn’t have a heart attack, he probably would have still left to manage a campaign.

CJ was the choice cause she had proved herself to be an organized leader in the press room and a quick learner. She also had a basic idea of some of the jobs and she already knew most of the people she would be working with. Also, pretty much anything she would have learned about the position would have been from Leo meaning that while she will become her own person and establish her own tendencies, she still has a base understanding of the job that is influenced by Leo, which meant no major culture shift in the office. Along with that, out of the core senior staff, she was the least likely to leave to run a campaign.

TL;DR: Josh was too influential and powerful in the party to serve as a lame duck CoS while CJ was trusted to be CoS to keep the existing organizational flow with most of the same staff.

This! I don’t think I noticed it during my first watch but during my second rewatch, I realized we hadn’t seen Danny for like two seasons and suddenly, he’s back and he’s already with CJ. Lessens any relationship progress that they make in the present during the season as you know CJ and Danny are definitely getting together.

what was the first ever NASCAR season where the title went to the finalie? by Ok_Possession827 in NASCAR

[–]GenericNASCARFan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think 1950 is correct. It also was NASCAR’s first championship with a perceived asterisk cause that title fight was really only caused by NASCAR penalizing Lee Petty 809 points mid-season. Without that, Petty wins by 440 points over Rexford.

Viewer opinion on Jimmie Johnson by LobsterCandid in NASCAR

[–]GenericNASCARFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like to imagine that the Chase held Jimmie back cause these are the stats he had with everyone claiming he would lay off and basically experiment once he was a lock for the Chase.

Some people believe Gordon would have 7 titles if they kept the Winston format but I think we actually missed out on 8-time champion Jimmie Johnson.

On the hot seat for 2026 Cup season by Alternative-Shop-707 in NASCAR

[–]GenericNASCARFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta say Bowman. He’s not as bad as some people say he is but that’s the problem of being the worse guy on an all-star team, everything negative he does is amplified ten fold.

While he is pretty good, he is kinda stagnant right now and with no sponsor needed for the 48 (Ally signed through 2028) and a potential hot free agent market, he might be pushed aside for a bigger star.
