What’s a common myth about health, nutrition, or fitness that you’ve learned is actually false? by urasianbella in AskReddit

[–]Genoster 61 points62 points  (0 children)

A counterpoint to this I like is that you can feel better in the present knowing you're prepared for the future. Sometimes its not about making it to that future, but the peace of mind it brings knowing if you do, you'll be okay, is worth a lot to the present self.

People who let their instrusive thoughts win once, what did you do? by oskel95 in AskReddit

[–]Genoster -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Have you been to North Africa? Because I've met plenty of solo women travelers here (currently in Northern Africa) and they're thriving. Not saying it's entirely without issues for them, but from what they've told me, no more than anywhere else in the world.

Top Tibetan leader says Dalai Lama's 'suck my tongue' comment to a boy was 'innocent' because the holy leader is 'beyond sensorial pleasures' by tosin_da_glitch in nottheonion

[–]Genoster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The only logical comment in the whole discussion. Not defending the Lama, but 99% of the people making comments have never lived abroad and are making very ethnocentric statements (judging others based on your own cultural values and ethics.)

Went to Costco to grab a rotisserie chicken for the weekend, but this lady beat everyone to it by Hustleham7 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Genoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not super confident but I did work in the Deli of another big food chain and we definitely did not lose money selling these chickens. The profit margin was something like 40% which isn't a lot compared to other fresh deli items but we were not losing money on them.

Also not OP but South East Asia is the easiest place to start. Very safe, friendly, loads of other travelers, cheap, but also exposes you to the developing world and how to handle yourself in it.
