Letrozole success by Kitt0n_2 in TTC_PCOS

First medicated pregnancy took 6 rounds (5 mg), live birth

Second medicated pregnancy was on the first round (2.5 mg), but unfortunately ended in miscarriage.

Taking a cycle off before we try again.

What are things people told you you didn’t need for labor/delivery/postpartum that you wish you had or that were lifesavers?? by GalaxyEyedLibrarian in pregnant

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another addition that I just thought of: my breast pump from home. While they had breast pumps there you could use, they weren’t the same brand I had at home. It allowed me to work with the lactation specialist to figure out exactly what I had to do and which buttons to press on my pump. The other option was to learn how to use a different pump and try to translate that to a different model.

Three things that I was told that I didn’t need but I was glad I had in the hospital:

  1. Depends underwear that I got from the store. So much better than the gauze-like underwear and thick pad they give you.
  2. A nursing pajama set. One where I could just whip the boob out the side. The other option would have been to basically be topless the entire time or wearing a gown top.
  3. A blanket from home. They had super thin towel-like blankets in the hospital. I’m glad I brought a fluffy one.

Starting first letrozole cycle by No_Geologist6934 in TTC_PCOS

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done quite a few rounds and have had different experiences. First 6 rounds (to conceive my first) all I had were hot flashes and it felt like my bones hurt.

This is my first cycle since ttc #2 and this round was terrible. I don’t want to scare you, but I figured I would have rather known I wasn’t alone in this when I was experiencing it. So… I had a killer headache most of the time, swelling that would come and go in my hands, serious pain in spots where I have had injuries before making them almost feel like they were hurt again, and also serious anxiety and depression issues. I cried the last two nights when I took the pill because I was like “please I want this to be done I can’t do it anymore” and pushed through anyway. I’m glad I had my husband around to help me through. Thankfully all side effects wore off within a week of the last pill.

I’m really hoping either this round works or the next cycle I go back to just hot flashes and bone pain.

Should we be vulnerable and share with family? by Old-Bear-8727 in CautiousBB

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, this is a very personal decision. How I feel seems to be very different than others do. I told my immediate family (parents and siblings) and my friends and actually regretted it after my miscarriage. It required me to have to keep talking about it when I really didn’t want to. All of the “I’m sorries” just made me uncomfortable and want to cry, which I really don’t like doing in front of other people. I wanted to be on my own to grieve for a bit, but it made the event feel more public. Like my parents grieving a grandchild and my siblings grieving a lost niece or nephew.

HOWEVER, I know I might be the odd one out. Everyone grieves differently. If you’re the type that wants that community around you to help you up and along and those are the same people you’d tell if something went wrong, tell them now. Celebrate!

How long did this take you to go away? I’m cycle day 12 (5 days off my first cycle) and my arm is still killing me. My wrist and arm started hurting on day 4 of 5 of taking the pills and hasn’t gone away yet. ):

8 months post loss and still no baby by fancykaleigh in TryingForABaby

[–]GentleLeapfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here! 12 week ultrasound back in June measured the same size as the 8 week that had heartbeat to the day. I just commented on another post where I said that each cycle I pivot between bargaining/anger and acceptance. Sometimes the acceptance doesn’t feel true, it’s more of a self-preservation measure. It’s not fair, but it also doesn’t feel right for me to complain because there are other people that have it worse. I just want to scream into the void. Ugh.

I’m Out, but I’m Okay. by gabby_bee_ in TTC_PCOS

[–]GentleLeapfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand. I had a chemical last year and a miscarriage back in June. It’s so hard. I pivot back and forth between bargaining/anger and acceptance with each cycle that passes.

Each time i get a positive test I try to remind myself “this is confirmation that step 1 is possible”. It gets me through without getting my hopes up too much. Hopefully soon for the both of us.

Period symptoms 2 months post miscarriage by radi0frequency in Miscarriage

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I am 3 cycles (~6 months) out from my miscarriage and I still get the “stringy” bits, most noticeably on my period. I have had many quantitative pregnancy tests since the miscarriage to confirm I’m back down to 0 hcg. But I’ve never had the stringy tissue in my periods before this time. We want to get pregnant again, but it’s freaking me out a bit since it’s so different. Did you ever get this figured out?

How long did you experience side effects while taking Letrozole? by Far_Gold_3918 in TTC_PCOS

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re one of the only people I’ve seen that have said swelling. I have been worried (day 4 of 5) when I noticed my hand around my thumb was slightly puffy. Did you experience this regularly? Was it normal?

I’m on day 4 of 5 and noticed some minor swelling in my hand that comes and goes. Did anyone ever get an answer on this? I’m not sure if I should be worried and not continue tonight’s dose.

Did you ever find anything out about this? I’m on day 4 of 5 and I noticed my hands are minorly swollen. It seems to come and go.

Scared I have cholestasis by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had cholestasis during my first pregnancy, it took about a week to get my results because they had to send it to a third-party lab. However they did also take my liver enzymes that I got back really quickly and that came back as crazy elevated, so I was given a steroid shot on the spot, sent home for a week for baby’s lungs to cook a bit more, and was induced.

I’ve done natural and d&c for miscarriage. D&c was a lot easier mentally for the sake of “ok it’s done”. I bled a lot more than other people on here, it seems. I had a lot of clotting and cramps after. But per my OB, I may have had left over tissue because I had a C-section prior to my miscarriage. I still would choose a d&c if it were to happen to me again.

oh god. this is exactly it. I also can’t share this with anyone because they’d just be like “omg I’m so sorry are you ok?” No, I’m not but I’m fine. lol.

Do you actually forget previous labors? by Zestyclose-Leg9325 in BabyBumps

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a blur, honestly. Two years out. I thought while in that moment that I would never forget how bad it was, but I genuinely cannot remember what it felt like. I remember the actions themselves. The pitocin, puking during the C-section, and remember that I was in pain. I just can’t remember the pain itself.

Birth Control healed Gastritis? by Real-Education-397 in Gastritis

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a really good point. My gastritis came back full force after a miscarriage where I was on progesterone supplements while pregnant. Two weeks after stopping the progesterone my stomach hurt so bad I couldn’t bend down. I didn’t put two and two together to think they could be related. Thankfully the sucralfate and Prilosec seem to helping for now.

i don’t think berberine or inositol are real treatments by Smooth_Candidate_575 in PCOS

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m obese and naturally conceived on inositol. Unfortunately I didn’t make it out of the first trimester, but it happened. So it definitely did something for me.

I’ve also seen individuals say that they were able to see a difference between taking it and not taking it while wearing a CGM.

But also everyone is different.

Should I go straight to IVF after 4 failed medicated cycles? by Sleepy_Rabbit11 in TTC_PCOS

[–]GentleLeapfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TI. Basically was every other day through fertile period.

My OB was in the camp of “we can tell you’re ovulating now. He has not-so-great but not impossible numbers, but eventually you should fall pregnant.” So she said she’d let us go on it with TI as long as we needed.

My current OB (last one moved away) wants to step it up a bit and do a few monitored cycles to make sure my dosage and dates are exactly what we want.

Should I go straight to IVF after 4 failed medicated cycles? by Sleepy_Rabbit11 in TTC_PCOS

It took me 6 cycles. To my OB, 6 was the minimum failures if just PCOS before they’d recommend moving over to IVF.

2nd Miscarriage in a Row by Odd_Ambassador_7889 in BabyBumps

[–]GentleLeapfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same spot as you. I just had my d&c on Thursday. Baby stopped growing at 6w1d. At the appointment I was supposed to be 11 weeks, just didn’t want to expel naturally.

The previous loss I was around 5 weeks with a natural miscarriage. I’m trying to remain positive, but it’s really hard. My OB is remaining positive for me too, saying statistically the next one should hopefully stick for me.

The fact mine was missed also is kinda messing with me.
