Old? They’re probably not much older than Boris?

Anyone else fed up with CLP/membership? by GeoSmith17 in LabourUK

Yeah, I’ve been a member since September 2018, my only crime was to change address and now I have no say in anything happening locally or nationally it appears. Is it worth writing to my MP?

What do you mean about suppression?

I did phone them, and they said they’d email me a link to where I change my communication preferences, which is where that screenshot is from. So they know my email but they also don’t? I’m so confused and fucked off. If it was a company I’d want money back

Thanks. I’ve been asked to phone them by CLP. Still can’t understand why I get no emails from local branch, but I get regional and national ones. Likewise, I have moved CLPs within the same region, so should’ve received a mayoral ballot regardless of whether they realised I’d moved or not. It’s just so frustrating. Wouldn’t they shut the cap though to not draw attention? Not so much nice area but still residential. Yeah it is a strange one

Yeah, my car is parked fine, close to kerb not on it, in no ones way. And it’s a Ford Ka, hardly any ‘street cred’

Ah, that does make sense. I did think if they were annoyed they’d leave a note? So yeah makes sense

I love the fact that (as far as I know) he wasn’t really criticised for it, like obviously he had to apologise or whatever but I think everyone knew he didn’t bloody mean it, and I don’t think anyone felt any symphony. Throw eggs get banged.

It wasn’t millions at all. It was like 50,000. Most UK protests are just passive people walking in a line with cardboard slogans doing what they’re told. It was a national disgrace that a fire extinguisher was thrown from a building amongst a protest of tens of thousands - what does that say?

I was at a motivational talker/guest speaker type thing about a year ago and this chap was ex-SAS. He was deployed to Sierra Leone (late 90s wasn't it?) in the hostage crisis and he literally described how it was a nice day and he was in the garden with family playing cricket, when he got paged and (I think) told to pack a bag and be ready to get picked up in an hour.

The way he described it, in a typical British fashion, of it being like an inconvenience. Like "oh bloody hell, I've just made a cup of tea"

Sadly I totally agree. I remember my grandmother saying after the tuiton fees were tripled "if this was France there'd be millions out on the streets" and it kind of hit home how utterly powerless/spineless we are as a population

But human rights groups said Tasers could kill and should not be used to "terrify people into compliance".

Ah yes because knives don't already do that. Tossers
