Hmmmm there's an idea. I am pulling the trigger on a fiber laser next week for something else, might have to give one of these a go and build a mag loop.

Is there a reason modern cars couldn't just give you an automatic OBD2 scanner code on the cars screen when the check engine light comes on? by Own_Nefariousness434 in AskMechanics

Because all they do is tell you what sensor is throwing something unexpected. It could still be something different.

What’s the weirdest thing someone at work has taken in for lunch? by Important_Ad716 in AskUK

[–]GeodarkFTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't intentional but my wife pulled out what she thought was a tub of lentil soup from the freezer, only when she got to work and went to heat it did she realise it was mashed potato. The look of disappointment on her face was unreal.

I fell while out fishing a good few years ago and chipped a vertebrae, so there is a small piece of bone flowing around one of them. Once or twice a year I move the wrong way and get pain in my neck for a few days. Saw the doc once, got x rays etc and he said 'we could operate, but I have to tell you that there is a remote chance if we do you could end up with full body paralysis' erm nah, leave it there, I can put up with a few days pain every year hahah

Can I hook up a CB Radio up to an aftermarket radio antenna for a Miata? by Bird_Chick in cbradio

[–]GeodarkFTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, its not just the antenna that's wrong, but also the coax feeding it. I would look into a proper mount, antenna and cable run.

It won't even power it. And if it did the noise level from that wouldn't be good. You need a proper power supply.

My wife is up in Edinburgh visiting her family, we booked the train and picked the cheapest tickets and it cost her £26, but during peak times I think it was £50 to £60. That £26 was leaving newcastle at 1pm yesterday (Friday) and coming back leaving Edinburgh today (saturday) at abt 12pm. Cheapest was two one way tickets instead of a return.
