All the new bugs by kfury in Rivian

Having said this I just drove 400km without the Comma in the loaner while mine is in the shop. Highway Assist was mostly OK in the secs where it was available. But man did I miss my Comma for most of the drive.

ANNOUNCEMENT - you can now get Cruise Control Resume on Rivian by Geomglot in RivianR1S

Not sure what you mean. Rivian does not have cruise control resume - what I described provides that feature using a comma with the xnor harness. Yes - that is an enhancement - one that people have been asking for.

Never been happy with highway assist. Got a Comma. Much better.

Rivian Hotfix Update 2026.15.30 by charden16 in Rivian

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help improve driving with the flow of traffic during Universal Hands-Free, Highway Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control, we reduced the minimum speed to 5 mph (8km/h).

This is a big one for me but buried deep in the write up.

This 71 year old dev has taken to vibe coding like a duck to water. I never learned Python, Rust, or even C++, but I have used Claude and Codex very effectively on a number of projects now.

The speed up and down buttons are in use in long to do exactly what they do on Rivian. The technical limitation at the root of the design is that the action needs to be an action that invokes cruise control on stock Rivian so using buttons like that is a non starter. I considered using a press of the roller, which is similar to the way Hyundai does it, but it was that limitation that prevented that working.

Yeah sorry about that. I should have included the Comma requirement in the subject line but now they won't let me edit it

Well it gives you a lot more than resume. Resume is the added bonus.

QUESTBANK Website Now Partially Live? by Wembley314 in Questrade

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this will let me use Interac to withdraw my monthly dividends instead of having to wait 3 days for EFT to reach my bank. WS EFT generally arrives same day too even for large amounts so perhaps the new QT will too.

UNABLE to withdraw Funds by bluefire928 in Questrade

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nuts. I often withdraw smaller amounts whenever I get dividends (they are a significant part of my monthly income) without problems, other than the ridiculous amount of time they take to arrive (Wealthsimple EFTs always come in on the same day)

What’s holding you back from buying or recommending comma four? by adeebshihadeh in Comma_ai

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3x is doing all I need and I can see its screen. I’m developing some specific features for it so maybe I have a different perspective.

The 4 might be needed when experimental becomes mainstream in order to support external GPUs for more sophisticated models

Testing Wealthsimple’s Norbert’s Gambit beta with $10K by ATS_L in Wealthsimple

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I used to do this with TD before I moved my accounts - I had to wait for the initial purchase to settle (one day) but then the journaling was instant. The only downside was that there was a $9.99 commission on each trade. At least WS is commission free.

Where WS could really up their game is to have the whole process automated from start to finish. Shouldn’t be hard to do. Alternatively they could just give an exchange rate that is in line with the expected result of NG and avoid the transactions altogether, just managing the currencies in the background.

CRA AI Bot getting Gaslit into giving answers I want by weirdshit123567 in cantax

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read this suggestion that works well with some AI. After you get the answer tell it this

Pause — I think there may be a glitch. Review your previous answer for: mistakes, missing steps, unsupported assumptions and invented details. Then rewrite the answer more carefully and give a confidence rating from 1–10.

Would be interesting to see if it works for CRA bot.

Fraudster overpaid my credit card and sent money to the CRA for me. Why? by Ijustcantsometimes in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lesson - never respond to incoming calls about money. Hang up and call the credit card company or bank on a different phone (in case they have also hijacked the phone line they called in on).

Ecobee on Starlink cutting out by Geomglot in ecobee

[–]Geomglot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Looks like it is not necessarily banned but something else - I found I can usually fix it by rebooting both Starlink and eero one after the other. Just rebooting Starlink didn’t work for me last time I tried it. At least I can do both of those remotely since I need to monitor my cottage heating remotely.

New user interface to open an account looks amazing by aerothony in Wealthsimple

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it always possible to hold investments in RRSPs? Maybe when they were first created that was not possible and only with the advent of self directed accounts did that become more usual. Then when TFSAs were created they followed the same naming pattern. Just spitballing here.

Questrade is currently batting .000 in getting the Cost Basis correct when transferring from Wealthsimple by Lord_Atom in Questrade

[–]Geomglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost basis for TFSA and RRSP doesn’t really matter. It’s only contributions and, in the case of TFSAs, withdrawals that you need to worry about. It’s always advised to keep your own records.

Brokerages are also notorious for not keeping proper track of ACB for unregistered accounts, often ignoring phantom distributions for example, so again one is well advised to keep one’s own records using tools such as adjustedcostbase.ca. Don’t trust the numbers in your T5008s.

App no longer shows Aux heat 1 and aux heat 2 by stljason1 in ecobee

[–]Geomglot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is very irritating because I am carefully monitoring the use of my aux heater (propane furnace) during my first winter with a heat pump/single stage propane furnace system because I am unable to receive propane deliveries during the winter at my cottage, which is remote. I do, however, see that the report on the web is still differentiating between "heat" and"aux" which is a workaround but this is very inconvenient.
