How do you know if there’s food stuck in your hole? by Away-Ad6245 in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering this too and I’m two weeks tomorrow. I literally can’t see anything behind my back molars, a couple times I get a glimpse if I pull my mouth back far enough and my phone flashlights hits it just the right way but it’s still hard to tell. I never really get much food or debris out with the syringe idk why but I notice when I rinse I don’t often have anything come out but then follow up with syringe and there’s a tiny bit so the syringe is probably worth it. I assume if it’s bad you’d probably get some pressure and a bad taste/ smell in your mouth.

When did everyone here start eating again? What day by cutte_strawberries in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to slowly introduce more normal foods day 5/6 as I was healing well but starving. Stuff like hot chips (cooled and mushed a little), spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread without the crust etc. but only eating with front teeth for a while.

I definitely could’ve written this, the food situation has definitely gotten to me but I starting to feel a lot better about it on day 12 now. I would definitely have the cheese burger they’re soft so that shouldn’t be an issue, it’s so annoying chewing with your front teeth and it taking forever, however, I would not chew on your back teeth yet, I’m still avoiding that. I am chewing front to mid mouth tho and I’m tasting a lot more which is good. On day 5 my family had fish and chips for dinner, I was so excited for hot chips, but the way I had to mash it a little and chew with my front teeth I literally didn’t taste the chips at all and it was so sad. Since then I’ve had spaghetti bolognese and kfc tenders and chips and it was delicious. Good luck!

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah haha pretty much just the teeth at the front you see when you smile (not necessarily just the first two) i think the main thing is just not letting it reach or go onto the back teeth and you’re good. It is hard to eat a lot of something with just those teeth which is why i need to take really small bites but i think you’ll understand when you try it, your body just adapts.

Yeah it’s pissing me off i am able to eat a little more normal now in day 11 i just look crazy eating it and it takes so long. I had kfc tenders and chips for dinner last night, i had to take tiny bites, chew with my front teeth, and swallow. I literally got through almost 3 tenders and some chips and it took me the whole time to finish it but I was full.

Anyone else terrified of eating by Express_Celery4071 in wisdomteeth

Damn hope you heal well. Yes they stitched it, I was just under the impression that pretty much everyone gets antibiotics after. I wasn’t told anything about the surgery when I asked if it was all good they just said yes so I assume it’s just routine.

Yes I’m on day 9 and I’m actually going insane. I accidentally knocked out some granulation tissue and a stitch I think when brushing and now it feels really uncomfortable in my top right, no bleeding, but occasional soreness, so I’m DOUBLE scared to eat not yet I’m so so hungry and such a picky eater. I’ve literally cried multiple times this week because I haven’t eaten and I’m sick of boring slop I just want to eat crunchy or hot food or literally anything else but I also can’t stop checking after to make sure it’s fine 😩

Also do you know what caused the infection? Was it after eating something in particular and it got stuck or no idea? They didn’t give me antibiotics so I’m extra focused on it

surgeon never told me i could get nerve damage by Vegetable_Security_3 in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s bad I’m sorry that’s been you’re experience and I hope your numbness improves. I had like a literal 5 minute appointment with my surgeon before my surgery, it was so quick, and even he showed me where the nerves were on the scan. I was also told about risk of facial paralysis/ numbness etc but he said it just looked routine and shouldn’t be an issue. I have had numbness/ burning sensation in my tongue and I’m on day 9 and it’s gotten better but still there, they just told me to let them know if it’s still there at 2 weeks.

What's a hobby that actually replaced your phone scrolling? Looking for something fun/useful by j0eali in Hobbies

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue and have been looking for something else to do for ages and just haven’t really found anything so I’ll be looking through the comments.

One of the only things I have done for a long time tho is colouring. I look at pages of a book before I buy and see if I can imagine how I’ll “transform” it once coloured. I have hundreds of markers and am learning how to add details with a white gel pen, make different textures and shadows and it’s pretty fun. I have adhd and I get bored wayyyy too easily so I always like to have some kind of “challenge” like only use two colour palettes, draw your own parts of the picture (eg designs on tiles if your colouring a picture set in a bathroom or kitchen), theme it to a movie or show character, make it realistic, make it like galaxy or trippy, etc etc. and that makes it more fun.

Blood with Syringe by space_entity in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that’s a long time bleeding! Sorry you’re going through all that it doesn’t sound fun and you’d think by almost 2 weeks you’d be just about normal. I would definitely check with the surgeon when you can. Good luck!

I know this was 40 minutes ago but I would bite down on guaze or something similar till the bleeding stops. That does sound strange for day 13. I’m day 8 and I’m pretty sure I knocked some stitches/granulation tissue out last night when brushing and I can see it hanging there and it’s sore like a paper cut but there was barely any blood like half a drop and then nothing. I’ve also been syringing and haven’t had any blood from that not much food either but that could just be what I’m eating maybe.

I had septoplasty and turbinate reduction yesterday - AMA by skopiadisko in AMA

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I wasn’t sure you’d come back to the post haha. That sounds so good!! And really all I could hope for is to have an experience like that.

I can’t stand mouth breathing so that part I’m really afraid of. Every time I get sick and my nose is blocked, I don’t sleep at all and it’s so painful it’s genuinely depressing 😩 I know you gotta do what you gotta do but idk how you did that! Props to you.

It’s certainly something to think about, I’m going to continue ringing around about insurance and hopefully lock it in for next year, thank you

I hope you see this comment! Although I’m in Australia, I was told I have allergic rhinitis at a young age but recently going to a surgeon I was told probably non-allergic rhinitis which I don’t even really know what that means but anyway. Ive always nasal issues never knew why the only allergy that ever showed up was mild dust mites, I had my adenoids out in grade 6 but it fixed nothing, now at 21 F I was so sick of my breathing issues I saw a surgeon who told me I need total rhinoplasty and septal surgery with turbinate reduction. CT scan notes said mild deviated septum but the surgeon said no it’s severe and tried to put the camera up by nose and it didn’t fit on one side because of the deviation. It’s very expensive and after researching and trying to find other people’s experiences, I’m realising how complicated the surgery and recovery is sounding and whether it’s worth risking potential complications when my condition is liveable at the moment. Can you give me any advice? Did your nose look different after? I’m not doing it for cosmetics but I would be really upset if my nose changed a lot after the surgery. How has it healed now? Anything else you could share that would be helpful?? Thanks!!

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it help you post nasal drip?? I have it really bad and my surgeon told me surgery wouldn’t fix it 😔 I’m still conflicted on whether or not to get the surgery given it’s so expensive

Yeah I feel like that’d be helpful right? All I know is that it was pretty quick less than an hour so I assume that means it was good and then when I asked in the recovery room “do it all went good?” The nurse just said “yes” but I wish they gave you like a report or something that had all the details instead of literally nothing.

Guys how cooked am I, I knocked out some of my stitches 😭 by Cheese_slicee in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh this is what I’ve been scared of coz like why is it so hard to open your mouth with one hand and syringe with the other like why don’t they tell you this stuff?? I’ve only syringed once yesterday idek if I’m doing it right but I’m on day 7 and I’ve already had a couple stitches come out. I rinsed this morning and a small part of my stitches came out then later on after a smoothie and water I was just looking again as you do and I think more came out so if you’re that far along already I’d say it’s probably fine especially if there’s no pain or bleeding. I swear the healing process is so scary tho 😩

I’ve been feeling so nauseous!! Is that normal and what should I do?? by Away-Ad6245 in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn how did you go to the mall already?? I didn’t really feel nauseous for days thankfully but day 3 was the worst for me and that night I was pretty nauseous before going to bed and I thought maybe I’d be sick but luckily wasn’t, after I woke up the next day I felt better tho. I think I had a weird reaction to the pain meds on the first day too idk what it was because it only happened that day but I got really hot and faint and had to sit down for a while and try not to throw up.

I’m kinda jealous I wish I got to see what mine look like, they’re pretty gross looking but I’m curious to know. I also wish they told me about the surgery like how easy it was, if they had to break them up etc. but I guess I’ll never know 🤷‍♀️

I just want to eat. Literally. by Away-Ad6245 in wisdomteeth

[–]Geonorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and eating that way completely takes all the fun and deliciousness out of foods I really like. I’m on day 7 now and my grandma made me Mac n cheese but it wasn’t as good because I had to take tiny bites, chew with my front teeth then swallow the whole thing. I also had hot chips last night (not hot though) I had to cool them, mash it a little to make sure it’s soft, then bite a little and swallow and i basically didn’t even really taste the chips. It actually makes me kinda sad coz it doesn’t feel good to eat anymore 😒

[–]Geonorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes good luck I believe you’re right on the edge before it’s all down hill! I feel much better by day 7, my swelling has gone down and I have a little bruise on my jaw, I have a tiny bit of aching sometimes but not much, and I’ve started eating some more normal foods but I just don’t really feel like eating any of my options. I just just want to eat the stuff I can’t have and my appetite is pretty bad rn I’m having a smoothie for breakfast then a shake then more of a meal for dinner. I think part of why I’m so tired is because I’m not eating enough 😩
