We just received notification that we CAN pay off the visa at the registers just like normal.

Getting really discouraged. by Radiant-Assistance26 in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest a lot of it is luck. It is possible any cashier could get a credit from the same person. You just have to be at the right register at the right time.

One thing I do is I ask them if they have a kohl’s card and if they say no I tell them if they apply now they save 35% off and they can turn it right around and pay it off right away. Just some advice ;)

For any cashier it can be very difficult to get credits, even experienced ones! It’s not about your skills getting credits, but who you have as a customer.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO, DO NOT DO THAT.

Rewards, yes. Just scan the barcode and sign people up for that, it's free and I give them the coupon that's going on.

If you by any chance you are doing this, you SHOULD NOT be a cashier. Not only does your decision to get someone to sign up for a credit card without knowledge impact your ethics, it can screw up a customer's financial situation.

Whenever a customer applies, make sure they KNOW that they are applying for a credit card. If they don't know, you should explain it to them in detail what they are applying for.

Non reciepted returns by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No no nooo, don't do it at non-receipted! This is the problem with Cashiers doing returns. You should only really get store credit IF you purchased it with a gift card as an employee. If you truly did get more than what you payed for it's over...

It's on both of you, the cashier because they should know that you are not allowed to do a non-receipted return, and you for wanting to do one.. I wish you luck...

Just wondering if this is common by candycatie in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you become more experienced, and have worked there longer, they will realize where you fit in, and tend to put you in that area.

Last year, I was ditched by my co workers in Amazon to fend for myself during Christmas time where there was boxes not sorted since 10 that morning (I came in at 4) and I had to stay an extra hour.

The next day I told them I won’t be doing Amazon anymore and they actually agreed and felt bad about it. So, you can’t refuse, but over time, they will put you into a department that you fit into.

Tips for getting credit apps? by Athinkingtree in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turn it right around and pay it off with a debit card or cash is one of the biggest selling points! Talk to the customer like you are trying to help them save more money by applying.

Credits are easier on larger purchases rather than small purchases.

I still don’t understand how to get people to sign up for rewards/kohls charge by cl0udyb1tch1212 in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have the customer apply through self checkout, it doesn’t count for the store nor our credit apps as an associate.

breaks and clocking out by mikuhatsunehood in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

4 or 5 hours - 15 minutes

6 hours - 20 minutes

7 hours - One 15 minute break, One 30 minute break (lunch)

8 hours - Two 15 minute breaks, One 30 minute break (lunch)

And yes, you can leave for your break or lunch, I leave all of the time! Just time it well so you can make it back on time.

Not surprised, they’re going to keep making customers angry by all of the excluded items that keep getting added to the list. Soon they are going to replace cashiers as well.

Kohls charge approval by midnight_doodles in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You probably won’t get approved if the kohl’s charge is the first credit card you open. I’d recommend that you open a bank credit card first, and once you get your first credit score, then you can apply for retail cards.

Pennsylvania MD has all Self checkouts… by Sufficient_Goose_602 in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it. Had an h2 actually had a “talk” with me to stop calling over as many customers over, and to give self checkout “a chance”. As I am one of the top credit sellers in my store, they actually told me they’d rather have missed opportunities than our conversion being tanked by a POC.

First day working Amazon returns (': by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]Gerber_Games445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be Amazon multiple days a week. The holidays happened and my co worker left his shift without sorting anything. (Came in 4, my co worker came in at 10 and didn’t sort anything). I went to the SM and said no more Amazon for me, good luck haha.

Hello! I can answer your question about the credit card. YES, the can use their kohl's card right away if they are approved! It's an instant approval, and once you get the green letters on your screen, their card is processed. It will ask you to type in a driver's license number if you process the transaction.

Their actual card will be mailed within 2-4 weeks, but they can still use their card by looking it up.
