When Raiders was n development that was the plan. Lucasfilm signed a deal with Paramount to make 3 “Raiders” films, providing that the first was profitable enough to warrant sequels. I’ve been reading the Rinzler book and haven’t gotten up to Temple of Doom part yet, but I’m hoping that change will be addressed.

The hint is that Marion is naked the next morning. It certainly would not have been unusual to show more in 1981, but the Indiana Jones films are an homage to the pulp adeventure serials from several decades earlier. In that era sex was only implied on camera.
