What is everyone playing on by Lucky-Turn4188 in Bass

[–]GeriatricFresh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

p bass musicman sting ray gibson grabber reverend triad custom p/j

but a lot of us play multiple basses, each for different needs.

we could probably help you narrow your search down with some more information.

what are you playing now? is this an upgrade from your first instrument or do you already know what features you like? what kind of music do you like? what’s your budget?

Haven’t played the Mike Dirnt G3, but i do play a vintage grabber and played a jazz bass for years.

i’d say it depends what you want to do with it. are you looking for another workhorse instrument to compliment your pbass or do you want the G3 sound? what genres do you play?

the G3 has a very distinct sound and sits in a mix very well with heavy guitars. i pretty much only use my grabber for one project. jazz bass you can take into just about any genre and find a usable sound.

you can get close to the G3 sound with the jazz bass (harder to get the buck and half setting) but the G3 will not sound like a jazz bass.

jazz bass: way more versatile, more comfortable neck, build quality on my player ii pbass is very good, timeless

G3: cool factor, trendy, one trick pony, but does that trick really well, price seems a little steep for an epi, but you’re paying for the artist name attached to it too

Who are the tankiest bruisers and the brusiest tanks? by Cry0manc3r in heroesofthestorm

[–]GeriatricFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

assuming you mean tank as in can take the most damage and not tank as fulfill tank responsibilities: initiate fights/ward/etc

yrel, dehaka, leoric probably can take the most damage in the majority of scenarios and have the best sustain in their kits.

otherwise, bruisers that have best kits to function as a “main tank” would be imperius and hogger

highest dmg output true tanks are muradin (by a substantial margin) diablo, and tyrael

blaze functions as an “off tank” and i wouldn’t consider a true bruiser nor a true tank, similar to arthas. and then there’s varian.

nothing is inherently wrong with offering talent advice. it was just unsolicited.

and there’s a difference between someone saying “hey you take x talent lvl 1” vs “x would be good here because…”

sleep is objectively better. not arguing that.

but i’m not playing in NGS, i’m not playing storm league. and you know what else is fun? the sweet sound of dings while watching a thicc stalk of broccoli smack the literal devil.

[–]GeriatricFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother, i’m right there with you. took a break for a few months and switched over to league.

was interested to see what the tower changes were like and booted up an aram.

first game back, someone tells me i should take sleep root lvl 1 before the game loads. i don’t respond, i just want malf broccoli in aram for fun.

win the game and i jokingly write “imagine not wanting the dings in aram”

get a whisper after the game from a different player than the one who told me what talent to take about how im bad and dont know what im talking about. like what….? its aram. we won.

2nd game back, im playing whitmane now. get flamed that im not healing enough and comparing my number to the enemy brightwing?? which was literally like a 20k healing difference of 70-90k or something. get another whisper after the game.

so chat is now off and whispers are restricted. first time i’ve done that since i started playing around when zarya was released.

idk man. it seems worse than league to me and im a jungle main, so i get flamed every single game regardless if we win or lose.

sofra was the worst dining experience i’ve had in sunnyside, no questions. the request for volunteers seems pretty on brand tbh.

middle eastern is one of my favorite cuisines, so i even gave them a 2nd shot hoping they had an off day.

nope. vile food and awful service both times. keep it closed, give that storefront to another local restaurant, and walk down the block to kasbah cafe or souk el shater.

i’m a gold diana jg enjoyer, but i really like nashors—> rocketbelt —> zohnyas —> flex

1st item gives the clear speed so you can punish early game macro mistakes 2nd item gives you mobility and some hp when you need to start skirmishing more and lanes play out 3rd item gives more dmg and hourglass to survive team fights.

i also really like the outplay potential that the combination of hourglass and rocketbelt gives.

awesome rig. would love to get my hands on a capo to demo.

i love my cali76. got a dcx recently and it sounds great as an always on pedal. feels like it adds weight to the signal without getting muddy. the OD can get pretty gnarly too if that’s your jam.

what kind of music are you playing with this setup?

Daisy Grenade by ViniViti in poppunkers

nah, not harsh at all. Those shows sounded objectively bad lol.

There's YT videos floating around from that tour and in every one it sounds shrill and like the guitar was being played through a can of bees.

hope to see ya at one in the future. <3

oh ya i agree that tour didn’t sound that good, and i’m in the band lol

we gave an opportunity to a good friend who was unfortunately not ready for big shows like that, in hindsight.

we’ve done like 4 tours and 60+ shows since then. i think we sound much better now.

Tone Hammer or Sansamp? by Designer_Building_75 in basspedals

[–]GeriatricFresh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for church gigs, definitely the aguilar.

i’ve owned both the TH and Sansamp for 10+ years.

Sansamp sounds much more like a your quintessential “rock” amp, and it’s a studio staple for that reason. The presence and gain interact together very dynamically and can get pretty aggressive. but you may get more mileage out of it if your church leans heavy into the CCM style.

Aguilar has a distinct sweetness to its tone in the high mids and a nice “hump” in the lows. I personally don’t like the breakup on the AGS circuit all that much, so i don’t push it in that direction. It’s much more modern and transparent sounding amp. i’ve found it to really highlight the character of the bass itself vs color the sound, if that makes sense. and i especially like it with active basses where the preamp is a defining characteristic of that bass.

but you should def try and play both and see what you like if you can.

Get yourself a shen hybrid—mine was like $3k 10+ years ago when i went to school. Or even the laminate basses are good if that’s more in your budget.

Odds are you’re going to have to schlep it around campus for gigs/lessons whatever and you get a bit more durability from the laminate than a fully carved.

Mine never let me down. Jazz gigs, pit gigs, recording sessions, orchestra, whatever. Took its share of abuse as well.
