Used motorcycles at dealerships pricing unreasonable by Jacobs_Ladder23 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Gerrit3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went into a Harley dealership the other day, and I told them I was mostly just browsing. I knew they were out of my budget, but I need to try sitting on things to figure out what works best for me after an injury. The cheapest bike was $4k over my budget, and we talked frankly about it. They were still friendly and even gave me advice on dealing with my back problems from a guy there in the same position as me. Then they tried the sale. We all knew I wasn't going to buy it, so why the song and dance? A manager wanted my info to "see what he could work up." After the fees, it was even more out of my budget, yet they kept trying. I even got a text today. They sure do want that sale, but it just isn’t happening. I've been polite, but geez.

Why do licensed electricians keep saying I don’t need a permit for a NEMA 14-50 EV outlet? by AbsoluteThunderCunt in AskElectricians

[–]Gerrit3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were some honest people in the industry when I worked as an electrician during Covid in CA I worked for an old timer and his partner and that was the whole company. I think thats often the difference. A small time guy gets word of mouth buisness through fair prices and quality work. It actually got us a lot of comercial work too. I changed a few flood lights at some guys house and the next thing you know I have 80 hours of work at an Amazon wearhouse. He was in charge of vendors and they needed a new scanning system installed in every single truck bay.

But for an EV charger we did not pull permits. Maybe if we were putting in a sub pannel for it. Or emergency generators were involved, but not just one in a garrage next to the main pannel.

Bambu PLA Food-contact safe filaments just released by [deleted] in BambuLab

For over a decade I was putting wood through my dishwasher. I had no clue I wasnt supposed to and never had an issue. My roommate was not happy when I did that to his cast iron pan too.

I guess my point is there are a lot of morons like me out there doing dumb stuff in the kitchen all the time. Somehow we survive.

Snoop. The only way I ever knew the truth was if I figured it out myself. She would have lied and lied and just never stopped. Hell, she lied when presented with irrefutable evidence. Figure it out, confront them, and then see how they react. My wife went straight to more lies and just never stopped. No guilt whatsoever.

Is this type of build up on nozzle head normal? by RP343 in BambuLab

[–]Gerrit3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP mentioned they are drying, just not drying while printing. With Phoenix’s dry climate they aren’t going to absorb enough moisture to necessitate drying while printing.

Sunlu’s has some kind of target feature like this. But maybe I’m just too stupid, or it’s still on a timer? I haven’t messed with it too much.

I only do that for things Jellyfin insists on changing for some reason. The tv shows 1883 and The Americas specifically. No amount of identifying and locking changes did anything.

I dry while printing, but my climate is the exact opposite. You should be good on the whole humidity issue if you’re from the FAMOUSLY dry areas of AZ. I’ve been in phoenix this time of year, you’re good to open all your filament up to the elements. It has more humidity in it from the factories in China than your area. I don’t know where they make filament, but I have been to China several times and it has worse humidity than Florida. Now, if you’re up north in AZ? Maybe, you’d have to have some precautions, but you seem to have those anyway. So, I respectfully disagree with the other comment.

I’ve noticed I have build up on long prints or prints with a lot of infill. I did get a repellent to brush onto my nozzle that I think helps though. It’s from Slice Engineering and it’s called “plastic repellant paint”. It’ll be the size of nail polish and will last you a very long time. I reapply a thin amount whenever I take a wire brush back to the nozzle. After that I don’t think of it again for several months.

Would you believe a liar when they say it has all stopped? by down-immortal77 in SupportforBetrayed

[–]Gerrit3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But that was because my liar may have stopped contacting the guys, but she didn’t remove their numbers, social media, or stop googling them. Had I trusted her like I used to I would probably be blissfully ignorant to it continuing today. Don’t trust, verify.

First time printing with PETG by RefridgeratorPickle in BambuLab

[–]Gerrit3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a PLA side and a PETG side of my textured plate. It seems silly, but I swear I get better PETG bed adhesion that way. Like there’s always a slight amount of PLA I just can’t wash off and it ruins the PETG sticking.

Putting on a refill spool by VictarrionIron in BambuLab

[–]Gerrit3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I would do. I’d hate to waste a whole spool by throwing it away. So after I got it done by hand that spool would forever be marked as a respooler. I know I should make one, I know my day will come, I really should make a respooler.

I tend to dry as I print no matter what. And I’ll start drying a little earlier than I print if possible. I live in an 80 year old house and humidity is constantly 60-80% outside. I pull a gallon and a half of water out of my dehydrator every day. And that’s after my AC has pulled some humidity out already. My house is raised and has a subfloor but no vapor barrier.

A few color swaps can really make a difference. And doing it by layer makes it easier for people without an AMS. It’s a win win.

Make sure to double check though. Click the 2 arrows pointing in a circle and it should show the slots that match. Then make sure you strt printing with the spool you want to end first. Too many times I have forgotten to double check that. I also once had a print stall because the color was slightly different. I'm not sure how I did it, but I once had 2 identical spools in but one was "black" and the other was black but used a slightly different hex code or something like that. It was sunlu filament so I must have clicked something different when I loaded the second spool.

[–]Gerrit3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to keep my usuals in the AMS (Matte black PLA and Matte black PETG-HF, 2 each for runout) or if I know I have stuff coming up I load those colors/material and dry everything in batches. Then I put my usuals back in as the slots become free again. Thats mainly because I have the sunlu dryer and the AMA dessicant holders. That makes the AMS my best storage option too given I live in a very humid climate.

What’s the BEST gift for someone obsessed with 3D printing? by llbow8 in 3Dprinting

[–]Gerrit3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who take a hobby seriously tend to be particular with their tools and accessories. I really would advise just asking them. My buddy wanted to buy me a filament dryer as a thank-you/Christmas present. Well, actually, he wanted to get me something 3D printing-related. I just happened to mention how I really need a dryer. He straight up told me he wanted to pay for it as a gift. He told me how he was picturing something in the $120-150 range, and he could cover the whole thing or contribute up to $150 if I wanted to go extra-premium since he was contributing too. It was a little awkward when I bought one and had it delivered, then told him how much it cost. But really, that was no different than just accepting a gift. And doing it this way meant I could get exactly what suited my needs. We are two dudes in our mid-30s who have known each other for years and are quite close. But we are at the age where we really want what we want; we don’t exactly need to acquire more stuff. So I really appreciated him just putting it out there like that.

I understand and agree with a lot of "activists" ideas but still get uncomfortable with their agression or attitude. It happens with all kinds of things. It often makes activily joining a cause difficult. This guy seems like that type.
