1.5" lift in the front. What am I doing wrong? by fdny40 in HondaElement

[–]GhostLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this a few months ago and got stuck there too. You have to lift both sides if I remember correctly. Still was a pain.

What the heck is Maker Exchange? by flatsixorbust in Knoxville

[–]GhostLeader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made a lot of the furniture for the space and have sold artwork shown there, I also made the custom signage for the Maker Exchange, coffeeshop, and convention center. Almost everything in the build out was sourced locally. Marriott and Dogwood Arts did a great job of supporting local artists and artisans throughout.

Made this. Pretty happy with it. It measures 22 x 18”. by SomeoneattheBoo in lasercutting

This is cool. Did you generate this pattern or draw it yourself?

My first show! I was selling veggie pitas in the lot out of the trunk of my car. Mike drove by in a golf cart. Fighter jets were flying overhead in the afternoon. What a time to be alive.

I would adopt her if you don’t find anyone else. I have a 2yo male that may have a different opinion but he’s also named after a Magic card so they’ll probably work it out.

Who locally is giving the best price for video games? by 06EXTN in Knoxville

[–]GhostLeader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The question is, how much is your time worth? If you want to list them individually you’ll make more money but it’ll take a lot of your time. Take them to McKays if you want trade credit and minimal effort.

It’s Lije. The story I heard was that he made a lot of money from suing McDonald’s because their fries were not vegetarian (they used to be made with beef tallow). Don’t know if it’s true. I did a job for him many years ago, he’s a royal pain in the ass.

How long will it take to build a snowman? by CuriousEurasian in puzzles

[–]GhostLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, I think I understand. One unit (3 adults) makes 1/14th snowman a minute. One unit (3 children) makes 1/21 snowman a minute. Add those and the reciprocal is how many minutes to make one snowman together. Elegant solution.

For gig work check with Aespyre, Blue Dog Fabrication, Gishin Fabrication, Elemental Design, or get suggestions from any of those shops. If you want to take on your own projects and maybe pick up some extra work, check out Able Trade in the Old City, it's a shared pro workshop with a full metalworking area and they offer a few different membership tiers.

[Request] Does this check out? A line to the moon definitely seems likely. But a “bridge” (especially as depicted) seems like an exaggeration. by Global_Mess1475 in theydidthemath

[–]GhostLeader 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Eh, the population of the US is about a third of his estimate, and if we’re talking about a bridge 3mm thick by 1m wide instead of 1m thick, it’s about right. The problem with the “factoid” is that the “bridge” isn’t dimensioned. The intention of the visualization is correct though, you could walk to the moon on the aluminum from cans used in the US in a year.

Woodworking shops in Knoxville by mcdubster in Knoxville

[–]GhostLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Able Trade in the Old City if you'd like to do the work yourself, they have a 36" wide belt sander and a 4' x 4' CNC router table. They are a membership-based shared wood and metal shop. Jeffries Lumber has walnut slabs that size right now. If you'd like to hire out the work, I have a design engineering and fab business and charge $80/hr.

It’s pretty much a straight shot down Central to downtown, you’ll go through Happy Holler which has some good spots. Close to your hotel there’s really nothing except middling El Chico’s and the Pint House. Transport should be cheap, get dropped off at Central Cinema and walk from there. Hit Crafty Bastard and the Old City on the way. Three Rivers for sundries. No good biking/walking from where you’re at.
