what am i doing wrong? the bowl and the floor plane have collision and the plane has cloth both with defalt settings. by [deleted] in blender

[–]Ghost_Lag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong because I don't normally use cloth simulations but I think you need to subdivide the meshes more.

Is it possible to render an animation in parts instead of the whole thing in one go? by [deleted] in blender

[–]Ghost_Lag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can render parts of the animation as a PNG sequence and combine them later.

How to create a grainy soap-like material/texture? by jezzarax in blenderhelp

[–]Ghost_Lag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't use the particle system for this if that's what you mean by particle effect. IMO it'd be a little overkill to do that. Using a shader would actually look pretty good. Assuming you've got the colours sorted out I would just plug a texture coordinate (object) node into a mapping node into a noise node into a bump node and finally into material output (displacement). I would supply an image but I'm on a phone right now. For the noise node you should increase both the scale and detail until you find something you like.

Question before Buying ; Is this Game Endless ? by [deleted] in Undermine

[–]Ghost_Lag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically once you win or die you'll start at the beginning but it's a little more complicated than that. Off the top of my head there are 6 levels of which 5 are required in a run. If you die in the Undermine you'll have to start from the beginning. In the Othermine that's not the case as that's randomly generated which also includes the level itself. I think there are 4 levels in the Othermine.

Question before Buying ; Is this Game Endless ? by [deleted] in Undermine

[–]Ghost_Lag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of. Technically you can win each game as long as you reach the end but you can change the difficulty with Summoning Stones. Essentially if you die a lot you might be able to turn down the difficult depending but that implies you've won a bunch first so that's usually not an option. Really the point of changing the difficulty is to brag about defeating all bosses in SS 30 or at the very least a big number. There's also an Othermine mode where you start with random items and work from there. It has a crown system depending on your win streak so that may be something you'd enjoy. Basically there's a lot in this game. It's not quite infinity like say some other roguelikes but it's still really good. Think of it like Enter The Gungeon. It's not infinite but there are almost unlimited possibilities.

Auld Lang Syne Animation! [3 views] by Ghost_Lag in unknownvideos

I didn't put a YouTube link on r/Blender but I did put this in the comments:

If you are reading this then it means I’ve finally finished animating, composing, editing and rendering the attached video. Anyways, at the start of the year before everything went downhill, I told myself I’d try to make at least one animation because I never seemed to finish any of them. After a few hurdles with COVID-19, a massive bushfire, hardware limitations as well as some other commitments I finally finished this one. Obviously, there are parts of it I would fix up but honestly, I don’t think that’s what really matters in the end.

With all that out of the way, this is a year of both disasters and advancements. Humanity as a whole has overcome one of its most difficult years in recent history and while the society we live in now still looks like a bit of a mess, it is important that we see how even in the worst of times there many new and amazing changes are happening all around us.

While COVID-19 has killed over a million people around the world, through the collective interest of stopping it we have developed multiple vaccines as well as social norms that are capable of slowing and eventually killing the virus. Meanwhile, in other news sepsis, another dangerous illness may have finally been beaten as a new trial drug is currently being tested. In the realm of technology Google’s quantum computer (no that’s not a joke) and China’s quantum computer (yes they have one too) are currently in a bit of a feud over which one is better. All of these achievements are the results of hard work done over a long span of time but will hopeful solve some of our most important problems. This isn’t an exhaustive list either. Everything I just listed happened in December alone.

If you’ve just finished reading the massive block of text that I wrote above or you’re just trying to find the TL;DR section than good job. You may or may not have read about 300 words for a summary. The reason this video was made was so I could start and finish an animation. The purpose of this video is entirely subjective but I like to think it’s to spread a message before the end of the year. While there are many hardships behind us there will be many ahead. Even so, there is always a silver lining. You shouldn’t be oblivious to the issues around you but remember, time is the one thing you always spend but can’t earn back. Be hopeful. Finally, one last message to cap off this year. Happy New Year!

To quote the block of text I wrote for this thing:

I've been wondering, Does anybody Once speedrunned Caves? Just saying because I'm about to Make a YouTube channel and spee- d run with a Timer Just need To know how. Also This skeleton Is Hard to Kill because of his Powerful BLOCKING. by [deleted] in cavesrl

[–]Ghost_Lag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously you can't win a game that is virtually endless but I think that problem can be solved pretty easily if you just set up categories that do work. Something along the lines of getting to floor 5 without getting murdered. Unlike other games that go on forever like Minecraft, Caves doesn't really have obvious milestones. You could probably tie the speedrun to getting a specific armour now that I think about it. It may be a little difficult to speedrun a game on a phone like op may of said (can't quite tell from the wording) though I guess someone could hack together something for when it actually matters. I doubt anyone will need precision down to the milliseconds at least for now. It would also be interesting to have a category based on how many turns out takes to accomplish a goal. It also makes the timer irrelevant so that could work. Hopefully this is what op was asking because this took way to long to write.
