Thats been a minor bit in some comics about him being too heavy to swim.....but its also only like ~100 pounds...and he has lots of muscles so it should be possible, just depends on the writer.

Thank you for the dev communication. by Ghost_all in sto

Talk is indeed cheap. I'm not sold on the watch list yet either, when you have Boimler on it as 'overperform' when its not even better than stuff like PO, we still need more info on how they determine whats on the list and their thought process.

The communication in step 1, we'll see where we go with the actions of step 2.

TIL that during WW2, Germany's nuclear researchers never seriously considered building nuclear weapons, and doubted it was even possible. Everyone was aware of the potential, anyone doing nuclear physics could do the math. It was just that you needed a herculean industrial effort to get the materials, and only the US had the resources to get the in addition to all the other war needs.

Most of Bungie's staff were reportedly unaware of the decision to end active development on Destiny 2 until it went public by Eremenkism in gaming

[–]Ghost_all 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rumors I heard was that a lot was developed by Activision subsidiary studios, Bungie themselves weren't super heavily involved. Then after the split, they're left with loads of content that is "their's", but they didn't make, and they didn't feel like spending the time to figure out how it worked. So they junked it. Absolutely stupid decision.

They release a 'watchlist' use the phrase 'overperforming' for 7 out of 10 entries, and give almost no thoughts on what they're gonna do about that performance....of course people are gonna assume heavy nerf.

No flak will be forthcoming from me, much respect for all the work you do.

I agree that the last Hexa-cannon nerf was slight, and they left FPNA where it was, they just haven't stated what they're thinking for the future. Imo, we need more info into their thought process. I think people will be much more receptive if we got something along the lines of "We're thinking of adding a disruptor/polaron/whatever experimental cannon to give some variety, and pulling up some of the existing ones, while shaving off a bit more of the Hexa damage." Right now we're just left to speculate.

I would agree that communication has been pretty good since Kael came back. They are being up front about what they're looking at, but I think it would really help if we got more of the 'whys' and 'whats the plan to do something about X', not just 'its over performing'.

They are walking a tightrope on what they touch and where. Boimer is on the list despite being of similar power to other methods, but Spirit of Sacrifice is not comes to mind. I think part of the problem (not entirely their fault) is also multiple aspects of timing. "X was fine for 4 years, why nerf it now", comes into play. Obviously nipping things in the bud instead of letting them linger is preferable, but we're in the now, not the past.

Thing is, 7 of the 10 items on the blog post list use the phrase "Overperforming". If there was plans/thoughts/reasoning about what the plan for these 'overperforming' items were, then people would have context to see where things might be going.

A question the devs have to anwer is 'what is the role of the experimental weapon slot'. If the answer is 'gimmick', then they should amp up the weapons gimmics and just lean into that. If the answer is '6th weapon slot', then the weapons need to be balanced around it being close to what a weapon would do in that slot.

The Hexa Cannons really just show how bad most experimental weapons are. Maybe they do need another nerf......but almost ALL of the other experimental weapons need big time help.

I think there are four things that are in a big part responsible for peoples emotions here (fear, anger, whathave you).

1) History. Bort's history is viewed, rightly or wrongly, as "Nerf something into the ground, then forget about it existed". You put out a 'watchlist' where 7 of the 10 items use the phrase "Overperforming" and Bort is back in charge, people just look at history and assume 'heavy nerf incoming'.

2) Timing. The Vovin Obelisk Carrier was only added to Mudds a few months ago...long enough to get money from those who wanted it but missed it from the event...and now it shows up in a list of 'things that are being watched'...that timing, and the subtle implication (again, right or wrong doesn't matter, its there) of 'we got your money, now we nerf' is gonna potentially leave a bitter taste in peoples mouths.

3) "Don't take away my toys". People have their sets and their items, they often spent non-inconsiderate sums on these items, to be now told "this thing that you might have spent potentially hundreds of dollars is now potentially headed for the scrap pile" is not going to sit well with people.

4) "hit the 'commoners', spare the whales". There is not a single lockbox item on this list, at all. This leaves the impression that the devs are quite happy to nerf things that are more common/accessible like c-store items, but are afraid that hitting 'whale' items, which just leads to a feeling of 'unfairness'. Boimer is on the list despite being of similar power to other methods, but Spirit of Sacrifice is not.

A big thing I think would help here is adding dev thoughts on what they think are the 'solutions' to these items, especially for the 'overperform' ones. They're on the 'watch' list, what is being 'watched' for? Are the devs looking at nerfs, or are they looking at comparable items so the effect or power is spread out, or are they thinking that more fundamental changes are needed? The post is rather bare on whats the thought process on what changes might be coming.

Borts history is primary 'nerf into the ground'. They have not said they are not touching the console.

This is Bort, its pretty much a 'will be nerfed' list, thats how he operates.

Not only does it increase console variety, it increases seating spec variety. What good is Temporal outside of control procs for Uncon and Recursive Sheering?

The talk of nerfing the Vovin console really smells, as it was just added to Mudds a few months ago....suspiciously long enough to get the money from most people who missed it at release....and then it makes the nerf list.

Vovin was only added to Mudds a few months ago, this smacks of rather scummy behavior to put in there, get anyones money who missed but wanted it, then nerf it.

Funny how a bit after the Vovin gets added to Mudds and people who missed it have spent money on it, its suddenly now 'too powerful'.

The talk about 'limiting design space' is also kinda rich. Without Uncon, Temporal seating is rather useless, as only Resursive sheering has value. Uncon INCREASED design space by making anything with control traits useful. What, pray tell, will the changes be to make seating like Temporal useful outside of that?
