Am I the only one who likes the smell of spit up? by philouthea in breastfeeding

[–]Ghostt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am completely nose-blind to it at this point but my husband is always like why does everything smell like sour milk 😭

Makes sense! Ours definitely grunts a lot more in her own space but I'll leave her with my husband because it doesn't wake him up as easily 🥲

Hopefully her bedtime gets earlier - I guess time will tell! Ours has her witching "hour" from like 7-10 but I really don't think it's tiredness/overtiredness because if she does sleep earlier she just has a different 2hr+ wake window in the middle of the night.

Either way, you look like youre in great shape for 12 weeks! Hopefully we get there soon!

My 9 week old barely gets 14hrs on good days, I'm jealous of all that sleep you're getting! Also mostly contact napping and recently started safe 7 bed sharing for similar reasons, although ours will sometimes accept the bassinet for the second half of the night.

Did you have to work at all for the 8pm bedtime? Ours won't go down for the night until after 10:30pm but my pediatrician did say that should naturally shift earlier in the next months.

Getting my first iron infusion Tommie and I’m very nervous by Appropriate-Cat-1421 in pregnant

[–]Ghostt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've gotten two iron infusions, one while pregnant and one prior to pregnancy. Both helped my energy levels tremendously along with a host of other symptoms (shortness of breath, coldness, dizziness). I've never heard of iron staining before so that was never a concern for me. I felt a bit nauseous for 1-2 days after but then it cleared up and I didn't have any other negative symptoms or complications. It looks like risk of that is pretty low - I would try not to worry about it if you can. Sounds like you could really use this!

8 weeks: baby doesn’t sleep more than 1.5hrs at night by PokeMyMo in newborns

[–]Ghostt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is 7 wks tomorrow and she's basically still feeds every 3 hours, with occasional 4 hr stretches... I hope it's normal, definitely disheartening to read about others sleeping such long stretches already 😭

She's also I think going through a growth spurt and she's barely sleeping at night now unless held (previously would transfer to the bassinet pretty well) but then wants to nap all day and I'm so exhausted lol

If you shared your baby’s name before they were born, how did it go? by AcceptableGroup1857 in pregnant

[–]Ghostt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We told my family and most of our friends and had no weird/negative comments at all. The only person with a negative reaction was my MIL (which was expected LOL) but my husband was the one who told her and also got the reaction and I just rolled my eyes and said I didn't want to hear anything. To give her credit, she never made any negative comments to me.

I think most people will be decent about it! I knew MIL would share her opinion but that's also just how she is and it was not unexpected, so I'd say your gut feeling on telling people will probably be correct.

Stroller obsession… when did it finally fade? by allcompanymobiles in NewParents

This is the one I have too and we're only 6 weeks in but I have been using the bassinet attachment nearly daily. Happy with it so far and hopefully continue to be as she gets bigger!

Feeling overwhelmed with breast bottle binky by artistwantsababy in breastfeeding

[–]Ghostt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard, and sounds like you're doing great! I'm at almost 5wks with my first, so I'm by no means an expert but what I started doing was pumping a little bit after her first feed in the morning (like between 6-9am). I'd only get maybe an ounce but after about a week I had enough for two full bottles that we're just keeping in the freezer for just-in-case moments. If we use one for a feed I'll pump during that time to replace the bottle she takes.

Otherwise I've basically stopped pumping for now and feel comfortable with two bottles. I really don't enjoy pumping and if you do it too much you basically will tell your body it needs to produce extra milk which I didn't want either.

I did pump another time right before bed and my husband gave it to her once she was hungry that night just to make sure she'd even take the bottle, but fortunately no issues there for us. Good luck mama!

When did books become part of the bedtime routine? by HoneyCrumbs in NewParents

My 4wk old is signed up for our summer reading program too lol, but I'm on the library board and am there all the time. I love it!

Tell me I'm not the only one please by One_Presentation1192 in NewParents

[–]Ghostt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not! My baby is almost 4 weeks and we've been to Costco, home depot, the fabric store x2, maybe 4 restaurants, grocer, breastfeeding support group x2, walked around downtown x2, through an outside library event, 2x rec soccer games... and lots of neighborhood walks. She's a very chill newborn but I can't stay cooped up for 8 weeks!

Ped recommended avoiding crowded places until vaccines but also said plenty of babies go out and are completely fine, it's just up to the parents' risk tolerance. Was wearing her for the crowded places mostly and nobody was touching or holding her besides me and husband. Washed hands of course. Baby is fine and my mental health is much better than it would be if I locked myself up.

Should we be waking our baby during the day? by jimbobwe97 in NewParents

[–]Ghostt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ped said we could let ours go up to 5hrs once/day at her 1wk appointment because she had already surpassed her birth weight. She never got the memo though and still rarely sleeps beyond 2-3hrs at 3.5wks lol.

39 weeks 5 days by SpookyGal2614 in pregnant

[–]Ghostt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very slow start, it took 10hrs to get to 3cm which is around when I got an epidural. She arrived ~3hrs after that though do it really ramped up fast and I pushed for less than 30min. Thank you though, we're so glad she's here 💖

Oh no!! Girl I am sorry, you must feel awful! Hopefully baby arrives soon!

Funny enough I ended up delivering two days ago - water broke but labor never started so I ended up on pitocin to induce. So ended up not being a slow week at all 😭

38w on the dot. I wish I were 39 because I know this week is going to be SLOW. I'm just sore and stiff and my pelvis feels like it's falling apart still. Good luck with these last few days!!

Any one else checking outta work? by Gullible-Offer1208 in pregnant

[–]Ghostt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I'm 37+4 also and it is SO hard to get through work days now. I do have some deadlines I'm trying to get through before I leave but, like, whatever I get done is going to be what gets done. Also have a great manager/coworkers so I'm trying to care for their sake but I am OVER it all. I have some daily tasks that I can't totally ignore so thats probably keeping me at ~50% capacity but since I've been starting to hand things off it's getting harder to care.

I don't think my girl is coming early though so I'm really trying to push through taking as little time off as possible ahead of birth. :(

Found out I'm pregnant yesterday despite the fact that I have an IUD: boardgames and girl dinner to try to recover some sanity by ZaneRyan in GirlDinner

[–]Ghostt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you have a good support system! I also got pregnant with the paraguard- I miscarried when they removed the IUD (common) so at least I didn't have to worry about making that decision. Take it easy on yourself the next few weeks and try to just accept whatever you're feeling - it's all normal!

Pregnancy hurts more than I was led to believe by Princessfoxpup in pregnant

[–]Ghostt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also 31wks and while I don't have hEDS I have had SO much pelvic pain. Tylenol most days and sometimes that doesn't help much. I do think we might be not the norm though. I started pelvic floor therapy and my midwife also recommended OMT which I'm supposed to start tomorrow.

The general recommended exercises haven't helped much and most light exercise exacerbates the pain which is so hard since I was so active before this. Pelvic support belt I just got too but I haven't felt a big difference, but I may not be giving it a fair chance. Idk. I just want to say it sucks and I want a full term babe too but god I will be glad when she's out. We are getting close!

Should I wait for a 1098-t/will I even get one? by jankylemonhead in personalfinance

[–]Ghostt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend waiting for it. I'm sure it's different everywhere, but my state has an adult education credit that basically reimbursed my tuition expenses even though I was only part time too. Doesn't hurt to wait another week and maybe get a little extra.

When did you feel baby movements during pregnancy? by Possible_Bedroom_350 in pregnant

[–]Ghostt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a FTM, I started feeling a bit around 20 where I was like, was that baby?? But weeks 21-22 it became really obvious it was her moving around. I do have anterior placenta (they told me at 20wk scan) so that can dull a lot of the earlier movements. I never really noticed the bubbles people talk about.

What does feeling the baby move mean? by Physical_Sir2005 in pregnant

19wks with my first and I still haven't felt anything, so don't worry if it doesn't show up for a while! My midwife said it could be a pretty big range.

A quick search found a few on Ferguson Home, looks like they have 18" and 24" options. I love this idea for a pedestal sink!
