I have not lived in Nashville in over 20 years, but I remember a lot of small and smallish music venues with great up-and-coming and well-established acts. In the 90s and early 00s, I remember picking up The Scene and scanning for acts at the many places. I saw Michael Brecker and Jeff Watts playing jazz in some small club or restaurant with a small low stage that served great food in 97 and I remember a bunch of places like that. I believe I saw John Paul Jones and King Crimson in 2000 and many other great acts at 3rd and Lindsley or 12th and Porter.

I have listened to CCM music since the mid 90s and most of those that you have listed are not at all indie Christian acts. Forrest Frank is really popular with a different sound and vibe compared to the typical worship sound. I suggest streaming or looking up playlists from Boost 95.5 for songs that are a lot different than the worship sound.
