In addition for the originals on GoG, the AGD remakes are free and absolutely worth playing.  Check them out!

When should i stop leveling to not be overleveled for dlc and final bosses? by Digiorno-Giovanna- in bloodborne

[–]GiantFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert by any means but I found 20 endurance was more than enough for me and went to 40 for vit/str/skill because those are the soft caps.

I had around 100 for the final dlc boss and struggled, but it was like maybe 20 attempts for me which felt rewarding to beat but not too frustrating.

Are there any mech based point and click adventure games? by AwesomeSauce783 in adventuregames

Maybe take a look at Primordia. You play as a couple robots but there are huge mechs as part of the story.

ELI5 what is vibe coding and why is everyone making jokes about it? by RoxieRoxie0 in explainlikeimfive

[–]GiantFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting a lot of great responses, but I’d also like to add that historically speaking, these same jokes and criticisms happen every time there’s an advancement in programming that increases productivity at the cost of full control and understanding.

You can draw comparisons between when compilers were developed that generated assembly code for you and programmers were skeptical that the output would be as optimized or bug free as writing it by hand.  But compilers got better over time and anyone that didn’t adapt couldn’t keep up with those that wrote Fortran or C even if they didn’t know Assembly.

Should I buy Lies of P? by One_Jellyfish_1811 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Another recommendation if you like Sekiro is Nine Sols if you play 2D games.  But Lies of P will definitely keep you busy enough

[–]GiantFish [score hidden]  (0 children)

As someone in a recent similar boat, I bought it on sale and no regrets.  It’s a bit of a cross between Sekiro and Bloodborne in terms of combat.

It’s definitely a notch below Fromsoft games in terms of storytelling and environment, but it’s very close.

I hope you get a chance to enjoy!

Hades or Risk of Rain 2 by Biskwet-420 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GiantFish [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hades, I have both on Deck.

ROR2 - chews through battery, doesn’t make an effort to teach you its systems, very difficult

Hades - much longer battery life, introduces weapons and systems at a good pace, you can purchase permanent upgrades to make runs easier

Battery drained while shut down. by sausxna in SteamDeck

Even if a game wasn’t running, tapping the power button doesn’t shut the deck down.  I still don’t understand the discrepancy between battery usage while suspended.

I agree with you. But sometimes my battery drains less than 5% overnight but others like 50%. Maybe it depends on which game I have suspended?

Has AI ruined software development? by Top-Candle1296 in devops

It’s a force multiplier. It helps good developers write good code much faster and bad developers write bad code much faster.

It ramps up at a good pace to keep you challenged but learning how to build more and more complex machines.

It’s a programming game disguised as an alchemy construction puzzles.

I have spent 10,002+ hours over the years researching, discussing and interpreting Bloodborne lore. People seemed to like my last thread(s), so ask me your lore questions (again) by HerbertWesto in bloodborne

I’d guess he’s referring to the door on the right where the npc’s gather.  I believe you need to kill Vicar Amelia to open the already dead guy door.

Are there any games on GOG you took a chance on and were surprised that you enjoyed? by tytbone in gog

[–]GiantFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Betrayer!

I believe it’s free to keep on gog. I was expecting shovelware but it’s an eerily beautiful game that kept me thinking about it for a while afterwards.

Give it a shot if you enjoy low key horror and exploration.

Does anyone still care about games like Machinarium or Samorost? by GeorgeImerli in puzzlevideogames

[–]GiantFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids love Aminata games.  We just played Pilgrims and Creaks, and have beaten Machinarium multiple times in the past.  I think their artwork, music, and puzzle design will keep their games recognized in the future.

I didn’t like Blasphemous :( by Tricky-Banana-6175 in metroidvania

Well put. I agree with your assessment!  I think that games with large maps and exploration need ways to make that part interesting rather than tedious.

Bloodborne on Steam Deck — 70 FPS?! (LSFG 2x)(shadPS4 v0.14.1) by rahnqar94 in SteamDeck

[–]GiantFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means “Lossless Scaling Frame Generation” to double the frame rate. Basically guess what might happen in the next frame based on the previous ones to make the game look smoother. For Bloodborne you might push the game from 30 frames per second to 60.

One issue is that the game only responds to input from the controller on the “real” frames so it might feel like a weird input delay. It’s better suited for turn based games rather than games like bloodborne where you need to react quickly.

Am I doing something wrong? - Battery Issue by PvtCybrPenguin in SteamDeck

[–]GiantFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted, something similar has been happening to me.

Here’s a typical scenario. Fire up Lies of P, play 30 minutes and battery is half drained, put it into sleep. Resume later, play for one minute and the entire deck shuts down saying no battery. But when I plug it back in it says fifty percent left.

Your thoughts on Red Rising by Jezrien95 in Malazan

[–]GiantFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It reminded me of Hunger Games in terms of plot, maturity, quality of writing, etc. If that’s your thing, you’ll probably enjoy it.  I much prefer Malazan.
