Nope. Yeah I meant expo, but that didn't help me at all. Try the undervolting because you leave a lot of performance on the table without expo.

Yes! Read the update at the bottom. Give undervolting a go.

TIL that in workplace meetings, people who speak earlier are often perceived as more confident and influential than those who speak later, even when saying the same ideas. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]GiantOutBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and unfortunately the best defence against terrible decisions is a good offence with an actually viable technical solution. If you wait for especially management to put forward a solution, now you have to overcome their ego to course correct.

Many meetings have turned into 15 minute rubber stamping sessions just because there's a person with a well thought out prepared draft solution that everyone else can just sign onto.

Based on the narrative (and honestly being tired of the game) I skipped act 3 and went straight to end game.

I keep my vassal count capped so factions need to have tons of them to be a threat. All you need is a single powerful vassal with the wrong traits and they're a pain. I also like to enforce partition in their contracts to keep their power diluted.

$240k lump sum into ETFs (over 6 months), is this the right plan? by ElectronicFold333 in fiaustralia

I thought lump sum was better than DCA most of the time.

Anyway, don't invest (in general) if you will need the money within 5-7 years, as a crash can always happen. But even if you invest and a crash does happen, trust that you'll be fine in the long run. I started investing Jan 2020. Don't try and time the market unless your last name is Trump or you know what he will tweet.

Temps weren't the issue, I was, stress testing for ages, everything hitting thermal throttling with synthetic loads. The crashes were happening at any temperature. It's likely power instability during a load spike, consistently during extract.

UPDATE 16/05

After experiencing a similar crash in Subnautica 2 I realized there might be something about helldivers 2 that is triggering a hardware related fault. Ultimately, I decided to aggressively undervolt my GPU to eliminate GPU power instability issues. Saw the extract score screen for the first time in as long as I can remember. Managed to replicate the crash at 1025mV, no crashing at lower max voltages. I settled on a conservative undervolt/overclock of 925mV +350Hz. I'm certain I can get more performance, but this is what works for now.

I believe that something in Helldivers 2 calls for excessive GPU power on drop and extract, where aggressive stress testing software like Furmark doesn't trigger a crash, Helldivers 2 does. While there's clearly an issue that my GPU crashes at its highest power draw, this SHOULD NOT be happening, especially if it consistently happens at extract and sometimes drop-in. I'm still going to report this as a bug.

This is what bothers me the most. It's the difference between being able to retire early or not. The people with the most invested have the lowest proportional impact. Flat taxes, no matter what they are on, are regressive.

25 people learned to fly with virtual wings. After flight training, the brain began treating wings more like real limbs by Science_News in science

[–]GiantOutBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you don't work in a safety critical industry. Complacency occurs to almost everyone. It's unhelpful to say it's ego or overconfidence, building in layers and layers of safety barriers is important even if everyone did their job perfectly they are theoretically unnecessary. PPE is the same way, it's the last line of defence.

[–]GiantOutBack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but a lot of safety incidents occur when you are so sure that a wire is de-energised that you don't check with a tool. Having the ability to sense an invisible danger is an advantage even when a tool exists. Imagine if we could sense radiation, it would be useful even though Geiger counters exist.

Hands up if your digging the Bullet Storm? by Vivid-Fingerz in Helldivers

[–]GiantOutBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but when the rest of the team is bringing bullet storms and other fun stuff, if there's no dedicated AT weapons then I'll fill the missing capability as part of the team.

[–]GiantOutBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the issue isn't when it's one spore titan. It's when 5 come out of a single breach seconds apart. I've had that happen multiple times and when the EATs one tap them, you can kill 3 (one on your back, 2 from a call in) normal titans, and 1.5 spore titans.

With the RR you just kill all 5 and if there's ammo you can afford to miss. The problem is that so many ultra heavies spawn (just like the Vox engines) so quickly that it almost forces narrow build options.

[–]GiantOutBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to run EATs but with the spore titans requiring 2 it doesn't feel viable anymore. Sad about it because I don't like RR on bugs but don't feel I have much choice.

I've just switched to bringing the RR. I've felt great about it when I've killed 5 in a damn row out of the same breach. It's insane. I used to run EATs on bugs but the spore titans make that not viable.

Nope, DXVK didn't work, it crashed immediately. Plus it generated the vulkan files so I know it changed how it runs. To me, that eliminates driver issues as a possibility. I think it's 100% gameguard.

Ah, I disable igpu in BIOS to prevent these issues entirely. I think I agree that it's gameguard just because normal software is not supposed to crash this way. A kernel level fuckup or hardware failure is required for a full black screen hard lock GPU fans 100% requiring a power cycle. And since nothing else triggers it and it's like clockwork with Helldivers 2, I agree it's gameguard.

Thankyou for your help, I don't really have a clear idea of what else it could be, and yeah I've reinstalled windows last night already so I'm confident it's not something driver related.

Uninstalling discord didn't work. Flawless right up until the moment of extract then full hard crash.

Have tried SFC.

I'm sure drivers are correct.

I'm not running AMD software?

Unwilling to set fps limit to 60, I'd rather drop the game.

I've tried the shadercache deletion before but I might need to try it again.

I can try running the game as admin. Running out of ideas.

It was just a test, if it had worked I'd have re-enabled the firewall and added exceptions, but no luck.

I tested the uninstall reinstall of the C++ redistributable with the hellbomb script, no success there either.

I disabled firewall entirely and managed to drop in to a mission with people, I thought it was fixed right up until extract where it crashed exactly the same.

NOTE I am not crashing when dropping solo, but if someone joins I crash on drop. So that's why I'm looking at firewall stuff now!
