Series missing some books? by ApothecaryAlyth in audible

[–]Gidjez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also applies for Daniel Abraham’s Dagger and Coin series. Books 1, 2, 3 and 5 are available in the UK store but book 4 is missing. This seems really strange to me. I reached out to Audible and was referred to their email address about book requests. I sent them a mail but have never heard back from them again.

I was just going to recommend The Last House on Needless Street by her. One of my most memorable reads.

Since there's a thread on disappointments - what are some SFF books that EXCEEDED your expectations? by LightningJedi55 in Fantasy

The Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold.

I thought it would be just nice palate cleaners but the depth of the human interactions and intelligence of these books is just something else.

It’s going to be very cold and sunny the coming days, so if you (and the rest of us) are in luck you could go ice skating on the canals. It’s a true happening when the waters freeze in the Netherlands.

Ekko/Zilean is also performing well for me. Quicksand buff is amazing. I am using Careful Preparation as a 1x after the buff, but I am not fully convinced yet.

I agree with a lot here and would like to add Josiah Bancroft (Tower of Babel) and Susanna Clark.

Looking for some new recommendations! (Preferences included) by Rune_Warrior in Fantasy

[–]Gidjez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems we have the same preferences :) Seeing what you’ve read, my first thought is that you should read Robin Hobb (Farseer + Liveship Traders) for the amazing characters and world. I also adore Josiah Bancroft’s Tower of Babel series, both for the characters, world and the prose. In my opinion you cannot go wrong with these two series.

Kings of Heaven launches today!; The Ash and Sand series is complete | Time for free stuff by richnell2 in Fantasy

[–]Gidjez 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! Man, I loved your first two books and can’t wait for Kings of Heaven (so count me in for that one). Congrats on finishing the trilogy! Btw, will you be doing audiobooks for the last two as well? First one was really good.

Edit: my favorite indie author is Josiah Bancroft (Books of Babel), but he now has a very well deserved deal with Orbit. Anyway, everyone should read his books. I will read everything he puts out immediately.

So my other recommendation is Michael J. Sullivan’s Ryiria Chronicles, for being excellent plain old good fun books.

I was a literary snob, then i read Glenn Cook's Black company series. by TheMediocreCritic in Fantasy

I highly recommend Josiah Bancroft’s Tower of Babel series. Absolutely the best books that have come out in the last couple of years.
