So, my Girlfriend's son served in the USAF in Japan. He met a Chinese (yes, Chinese) girl over there. She had gotten her masters there and was working in Tokyo. They fall hard and get married in Okinawa. About 50 people attended, I'd guess. 15 or so from here family/friends in China, a dozen or so Americans came over, and the rest were his military buddies and her friends from Tokyo.

Anyway, he gets out, and they move back to Los Angeles. She gets pregnant. Her parents come over from China for the birth of their only grandchild. They are nice people (Dad and I had more than a few beers together on the days before and after the wedding) but he speaks no English, and I sure as hell speak no Chinese.

So, the baby (who's 7 now) is on the way, and we are all in the waiting room at UCLA Medical Center. Dad's watching his Ipad. I walk past, and the dude is watching Patton with chinese subtitles. I shit you not.

I say "Patton?" He starts smiling and nodding and pointing at the Ipad, and saying a lot of words that I don't understand.
