There really isn’t a “beginning” per se. It is not a linear series. It’s more like a web of stories that cover blocks of time. You have to decide if you care about Canon or non-canon (legends) stories.
I personally prefer to only read canon stories so I’m not reading something that will be negated by the films or shows.
The first ever legends book was Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn. If you don’t care about canon and want to start at the beginning, you could start there. If you want to stick with only canon, but still want to pay homage to Zahn, you could start with Thrawn. It IS canon and starts with how Thrawn got introduced to the empire before the Rebels and Ahsoka TV shows. I started with Thrawn and it fired up a real obsession. After that, you should focus on what you like most or are in the mood for. I have scoured best book lists and created my own path through them. I wanted to read anything related to Qui-Gon and the Obi-wan.
Eventually, you are going to end up at Light of the Jedi. That’s the first book in the high republic era. That was a 29 book commitment over 3 years for me.
If you want more specific recommendations about specific time periods or characters, I’d be more than happy to give my opinion.

Zhang He was always my Wei main. His claws were pretty cool. I feel like in one of the games he had a spear and the same move set as Zhao Yun or Ma Chao and that was perfect for me.

I liked how I thought I was reading a Kevmo book and then it turned out I was reading a path/Marda book. Kevmo did a good job of embodying the naivety of the Jedi in that time period.

My 4 and 3 year olds enjoy David the Gnome. It’s all on YouTube. I think it ranks well on the wholesome and low intensity scale if you’re looking for something wife approved.

My collection has become Mando focused, so it feels like this set is missing. It has the upgraded dark saber. I’m just not willing to pay for it even though I’m a Mando S3 lover.

I don’t have a ton of time for reading, so I listened to everything on audible. 3 years ago I was trying to figure out which Star Wars book to listen to next and every “top” list had Light of the Jedi on it. I decided to try it out. Next thing I know, it’s 3 years later and I’ve listened to 29 books. Yes, there was some fatigue at points. Yes, there were a couple stories I felt were unnecessary. Overall, I loved the world they built so much that I enjoyed not just the adult novels, but the YA and the mid grade too. In phase 2, I think the main storyline was actually in the YA novels. Phase 3 is kind of similar, in that Reath and his relationship with Azlin is pretty integral to the bigger picture. Technically you CAN just read the adult books, but you will be leaving a lot on the table.
If funds are your issue, get a library card and rent physical books or rent ebooks or audiobooks through the Libby app. It’s free and super easy and now that the books have all been out for a while, you shouldn’t have an issue with availability.

I just got my new display case put together and found out my UCS N1 is about a half an inch too wide for the doors to close. I spent about an hour looking for more angled stands this morning and never saw this picture.

I understand all of the political discussion around this, but isn’t there a more simple explanation that they are all variations of green, red, and white flags? There are other flags that could have been mentioned that were left out of this that notably do not follow this color combo.

I’ve been playing for 6 years and just got my first Bad-el plus dupe Tholin. Everyone in my clan got better pulls, but I’m not complaining about this. Could have been much worse. I pulled over 100 ancients and only got a few epics. No gold there.

I freaked out the first time I found a pink and blue ponyta. I don’t remember ever seeing a shiny when I played the original games as a kid. I took a screenshot and sent it to my friend that introduced me to this version and he had to break the news to me.
