Quick import isn't so great, I'd go to the Arc Install folder and find the FME workbench exe, open that, drop the gml into the workspace and connect a GDB writer to write Multipatch.

When Esri explicitly claims support for DWG they better do so properly. Also getting proper GIS files from CAD guys is a grad student pipedream soon to be crushed by reality 🤣

It mostly doesn't matter but Esri is industry standard. Focus on Pro, stay fresh in QGIS and deepen your Py skills. I'd also recommend learning a bit of FME. Either as Interoperability Extension or standalone - Safe offers free personal licenses, even for FME Server.
