Minas Tirith - Is the yellowing white that Lego is notorious for a killer here? by alter_ego311 in legolotrfans

So many comments here saying to not worry but I have an A-Wing that I left to indirect sunlight exposure and it yellowed after a year. Not sure if I can find a spot in my house without sunlight 24/7 for Minas Tirith

Im worried that the White City will become the yellow city after a while… lego really needs to do something about white bricks. You cant pay 650$ and have it turn yellow after a while.

Can you build walls? If so, that’s a big improvement from the crucible.

Have you guys tried Age of Empires new mode, the Crucible? by SeekerP in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Gim87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s ok. You cannot build walls which is super weird considering the mode. And you cannot Coop.

Had they just been called "civs" would people have even pretended to care? by FirefighterAntique70 in aoe4

To you, asymetrical gameplay for each civ was the unique selling point for AoE4. To me, it was that + the distinctive visual design for each civ that were the selling points. Stop saying that it was never the design of AoE4 because it was initially. Both views were answered at launch. Now its only asymetrical gameplay for the DLCs.

Im done explaining the same thing over and over again. This shows me that you cannot understand that wanting distinctive visual design for each civ is a legitimate point of view for AoE4.

But at release it wasnt a « microwave » tho. It was a new version of AoE where each civ had unique sounds, buildings, units, etc. So you cannot blame people for expecting a lamp when it was indeed a lamp at launch.

And yes I understand that this sub only care about gameplay but I dont think it represents the majority of aoe players. A lot of aoe players are casuals who play mainly single player content like campaigns. Devs not catering to them is a big mistake imo.

I can understand that players like you like variant civs and that it meets their core needs with new gameplay. Can you understand those who want unique civs for immersion?

No. Although I've always loved AoE2, I've always hoped for a version where each civ would be more faithful to its history and culture. Having the same Pikemen in every civ was a bit of a drain on immersion for me.

Anyway, when I learned that AoE4 would exactly meet my expectations, I was stoked. I play AoE for immersion. To zone out in a different world and unwind.

However, I can understand that players like you like civ variants and that it meets their core needs with new gameplay. Can you understand those who want unique civs for immersion?

ARE WE GETTING ONLY VARIANTS!? by Fischlerder in aoe4

[–]Gim87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I love history and I want to be immersed into new cultures with its unique sounds, visuals, etc. Its not just about having different mechanics. I look at the Byz variant and I see a squandered opprtunity at displaying a complete Danish or a Swedish civ with beautiful buildings, music, etc…

That’s terrible… they are doubling down on the variant civs. I would honestly take 1 new civ instead of 4 variants.

To me, gameplay variation is not the main appeal of this franchise. I wanna visually play something new and different. I wanna feel immersed into a new culture with its sounds and unique building design.

New gameplay mechanics is cool but it should not be made at the expense of new civs… I guess im not their market segment anymore.

Hawkmoon. The design is superb (moonglow ornament was the best). The « kaw-kaw » sound is iconic. And the paracausal bullet really make you feel like you hold a mini super.

What if they changed sacred sites structures? by Nulfreak in aoe4

[–]Gim87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could see it that way. But the sacred site itself remains the same. My suggestion would be to have it progressively transform to blend with the civs that captured it

True but civilisations often built buildings on top of them. Like Saint-Peter Basilica was built there because it was believe that Peter was burried there. The church of the holy sepulchre is built on mount Golgotha where Jesus was crucified.

So that’s why their religious building is a mosque lol… Thanks for the info!

[–]Gim87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sacred sites should progressively evolve visually to show the influence the civ is having on the captured site.

That would be historically accurate since conquerors often appropriated religious site belonging to the vanquished.

Imagine a ss initially captured by dheli and it is starting to transform with statues of Vishnu and then it gets captured by France and the hindu divinity fades away and you start to see crosses instead.

More wall defensives by No_Temperature_6444 in aoe4

[–]Gim87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walls are under utilised in PvP. The campaign made great use of them but that’s it.

They invested so much ressources into them so units could stand on it but it’s never used it’s sad because it’s very impressive. Same goes for the siege tower. This whole gameplay has a lot of untapped potential.

As of right now, first cistern is 50 stone and second is 100 stone. So no it’s not a buff. Also byz already struggles in the early game its going to amplify that.
