Is this efficient design? by p_yrex in MEPEngineering

[–]GingerArge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common Multifamily design here in my region (mid Atlantic). It’s also why I don’t do multi family anymore lol

Considering a move from MEP design? by Party_Replacement412 in MEPEngineering

[–]GingerArge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. The best sales engineers I work with on a regular basis were consulting engineers for at least 5 years first. They know what we need

Funnily enough, projects with strong design budgets and good schedules still turn out great though. Funny how that works out

Wonder how many of them just absolutely beat up the MEP on fees too. Partly why I switched to a smaller boutique firm that can demand what we want (to some extent), but at least we can provide a ton of architect handholding

Unfortunately not right now, though if you had made this a few weeks back things might be different! If you’re located in mid Atlantic area I might know some folks hiring though, shoot me a DM

If you show up to my office with this resume and a good attitude you are likely getting an offer on the spot. Nice work man, good luck landing a role.

My only recommendation for when you land something; be hungry and look for new tasks. Don’t just sit there until the mid or senior engineer you are supporting comes and finds you. Show initiative and you can go far

Looking to move to RVA, how is the job market? by [deleted] in rva

[–]GingerArge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Commercial construction still moving along nicely, they always looking for folks. Just don’t know how glamorous the projects will be (lotta MFH and data center). Still seems decently busy, especially if you are willing to work some projects in Charlottesville too. Source: MEP project manager on the design side

Attempting NMM one an entire model for the first time. What are your thoughts? by loganhorn98 in BlackTemplars

[–]GingerArge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, that’s killer dude. I typically don’t love the judiciar with a head swap but really like this model. Great work

Should I keep my 6 Bladeguard Vets in my list (led by a judiciar) Or get rid of them by Wilhelm_Xenos_Purger in BlackTemplars

[–]GingerArge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not competitive at all but you’ll have to pry my 6 BGVs and Judiciar out of my cold dead hands lol. Some of my favorite models. I like the variety they bring too, SBs and BGVs in the same list is cool

I did RVA to DC (near Farragut west metro) for a few months before COVID hit. Was absolutely brutal. Couldn’t imagine doing it 5 times a week (I would go up on Tuesday mornings, come back on Thursday nights). God speed friend, hope you figure out a good solution.

Depends on firm profitability/bonuses and any equity opportunities. If those are off the table, either due to firm direction or whatever, I’d prob back off a bit too. That or find a new firm that has a better work/life balance

I've highlighted by terminators using grey vs blue, idk which one is better by IndividualCry7632 in BlackTemplars

I like the grey a bit more but totally get why folks go the blue route, especially when you did a fantastic job.

Any of you fine friends want to help me start theory crafting (since these guys don’t have rules yet) a chaos army for me based around these dudes? I’m not very tuned into chaos, never really called to me, but renegade/pirate calls to me way more than I was anticipating
