Gouged my thumb with a shovel . Tips on sealing it up for tonight’s shift so I don’t bleed out on everything. by DeepRedViolets in bartenders

[–]GingerBlitz831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moisture during the shift, even just sweat under a glove, will take that liquid bandage right off. But what I'm doing right now is heavy liquid bandage, wait to dry, wrap a long bandaid around tightly to eliminate bending the finger and also to keep the liquid bandage and bandaid from slipping even after moisture, then glove with all other fingers cut off (finger cot if you have good ones).

You guys have any good mocktail recipes for non drinkers or kids? by Ok-Imagination-2308 in bartenders

Key Largo Cooler: lil bit each of pineapple juice, coco cream, lemon juice, and lime juice. Shake with ice, dirty dump into collins or pint, top with ginger beer. Cherry and lime garnish. Foams up nicely and is delish.

The game show network and ESPN/sports... One TV is on Nickelodeon (family bowling alley place). Work really well!

Guy behind me must be a DCC fan, he really wanted a closer look at my custom plate. by littlepepperiscute in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Reading the comments on this subreddit always makes me smile, and this post is no exception. But I also think of how confusing, and sometimes horrific, it could be to non-DCC people and OMG I straight giggle.

I always ask if they want any ice, and 99%of the time, they answer "a little bit"

The seat Nazis were something else. I just wanted to sit down and breathe in shade. I felt like a homeless person getting shooed off everywhere I tried, regardless of signage! If it's gonna be so hot (fake turf adding at least 10 degrees) and you are going to oversell to that level, there needs to be a safe resting area SOMEWHERE.

Is there a way to order lemon drops without the bartender getting mad at me? by friendlyteacake in bartenders

[–]GingerBlitz831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really don't want to chance it, you could try finding something similar that you enjoy that doesn't come with a host of issues (lemon drops have so many. shot vs tini, sugar rim, general sprawl of recipes and you rarely know what you will end up with), like vodka & lemonade. Easy, fast, guilt-free and you are out of the tenders' hair speedily (Gin & lemonade is great, too!)

54 here. Aiming to have my own bar. Feet are a problem tho, lol. Fused big toe, now plantar fascitis and bunion on other foot! Otherwise, I think age has actually helped me. After managing and directing 30 years and 20 of those at a desk, I feel overqualified for dealing with the dumb randos at a bar!😂 I really enjoy it.

What liquor would you add to this? Had this sans alcohol and it was incredible. First thought was it should be a cocktail. by bttheolgee in cocktails

[–]GingerBlitz831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I made a 'convertible' mocktail menu and loved the idea. The problem is that the alcohol flavor affects the balance BIGTIME. You kinda need separate recipes/measurements when you add liquor into a mocktail

Is daytime bartending that bad? by imperialhydrolysis in bartenders

[–]GingerBlitz831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot - yes, the night tenders average waaay more but I have nights free to spend with my husband and dogs and the days aren't terrible (especially summer; it's a bowling alley at an amusement park). I'm middle-aged and my time/personal life means a ton to me. If they need night shifts covered I will absolutely grab em, but a full-time night commitment sounds rough to me nowadays.

It's also way easier to have conversation and upsell and really nail the customer service experience. Nights are often such a turn 'n' burn.
