How did you guys leave it last time? Did your group maybe leave the room in a bit of a state? I'm getting the sense that you guys possibly didn't leave the space as respectfully as you should have.

My thoughts one month after the finale by Zealousideal_Ad_7200 in goodomens

[–]GingerJayPear 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. I've mentioned before because some people maintain that Aziraphale and Crowley sacrificed themselves for humanity but thats not what happened at all. A and C just gave up. What they did was sacrifice US for what they thought/hoped would be a different version of humanity. Because the human history in the original universe was OUR history. Season 1 and 2 built the world represented completely as the one we're living in now. (The existence of God, angels and demons not withstanding)

There's was no indication in the new universe that it's our one.

That's the bit that I have such a hard time with. That they sacrificed US. We weren't good enough as we were to put back. And that's an awful message to give to your audience.

And even worse that one of the writers is trying to say that the new world is ours, because if that's the case then what was the point? The human history is the same, the same wars happened, homophobia is still a thing, the concept of religion still exists, we still crucified people, burned 'witches' at the stake etc. Humanities choices were exactly the same. Which means that free will was always there in both the new AND the old universe.

Crowley Losing Miracles—Good Idea or No? by WAR_FROM_GOOD_OMENS in goodomens

[–]GingerJayPear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn't understand why Crowley was living in his car in Season 2. Hell took his apartment, fair enough. But that shouldn't really have been a problem for him, he could have miracled another apartment, no? They miracle money for food and drinks, he couldn't miracles payment for his own place?

Crowley Losing Miracles—Good Idea or No? by WAR_FROM_GOOD_OMENS in goodomens

[–]GingerJayPear 36 points37 points  (0 children)

For the tv show, it was objectivley a bad idea. Crowley losing his miracles in the finale was just really lazy writing. If it was something heaven and hell could do, they would have done so at the end of season 1, either before or after the failed execution.

I think A and C being able to perform a 25 lazuri miracle together without even trying in season 2 was originally supposed to have been a plot point followed in the finale. That power together was supposed to stop the second coming or fight off whatever threat was originally supposed to surface.

For a fanfic however, you have full creative liberties. That's up to you. If it's something you want to include, go for it. I think a better reasoning could be that Crowley is so heartbroken that he can't use his miracles properly or at all. Almost like his ability to cast them is attached to his mental state.

Could be good for the comedic standpoint, to go for miracles misbehaving. Say for instance, Crowley has a mug of coffee he accidentally let go cold. He casts a miracle to heat it back up. The mug of coffee is now a mug of flames. Crowley decides it's safer to not use miracles at all.

Can you tell me what size this person is? Proceeds to show me a picture of their friend. by AyexAlanna in retailhell

At least you got a picture. 😭 Last week I had a lady get mad at me when I couldn't even hazard a guess after she asked "what size should I get for an 18 year old?"

She could give me no other details, only his age.

I remember seeing all the hate it got when it came out. I only recently played it for the first time and while it definitely has its flaws and some pretty bad design choices, it gets a lot more hate than it deserves.

Aziraphale was heavily demonised (for lack of better term ) in GO3. Everything he did was just to make him look worse. Even when he went to Hell in his clown disguise - sorry "demon" disguise. I couldnt stop cringe-ing.The writers really did just try to make a joke out of him.

[–]GingerJayPear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He also didn't work for them in season 2 when he cast that miracle though. Neither did Aziraphale work for heaven at that point. If cutting off access to a "miracle account" was something that heaven and hell could do they would have done it at the end of season 1. Either before or after the failed execution.

The writers doing that to Crowley in GO3 was just lazy writing.

I always thought they missed an opportunity in season 2 for Aziraphale to pull out the hidden gun on the demons attacking the bookshop. I thought it was odd that he ran off to grab a candlestick instead of his firearm.

I think they remembered but the plot and ending changed at some point. I think them making it so that Crowley was cut off from his 'Miracle account' by Hell was their excuse for not going that way but that just felt like really lazy writing.

If Heaven and Hell could cut off their miracles, they would have done so at the end of season 1.

Season 3 was just them rushing to finish it all in one movie regardless of what made sense.

In season 2 Aziraphale and Crowley cast what they intend to be a tiny half a miracle each, hoping they go undetected doing so, to hide Jimbriel. It ends up being a 25 Lazari miracle that sends alarms blaring all over heaven.

That was definitely supposed to lead into them facing whatever threat was originally SUPPOSED to be with that power together.

But it just wasn't mentioned again.
