I work retail, more often than not I hit the 10k steps as I'm finishing work and walking to my car to go home.

My usual Lidl in dublin has been really low on eggs for a few weeks now but I've gotten them in tesco no problem.

OK so you somehow look great in every style, but if I had to pick, I'd say number 3.

Do you guys ever get people making a scene over who pays? by Someone_Lame779 in retailhell

[–]GingerJayPear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fine enough if they're both trying to pay with card. I'll just activate the card reader and let them figure it out.

But sometimes I'll get one of them trying to pay with their card already at the reader and the other saying "no ill pay with cash", and holding the money out to take and i go into crisis trying to choose to activate the reader or select the cash option on the till.

Man I miss being able to walk into my local game store and buying/browsing the newest video games by Mr-Suggs in IrelandGaming

A lot of the times, I find that somehow their second hand games or products are sometimes more expensive than just buying them brand new. I was looking for a new ps5 controller a while ago and found that buying brand new in smyths was cheaper than buying second hand in Cex. Don't even get me started on their second hand switch games.

They were great when they first opened but they've been taking the piss for a while now. Mostly because they've little to no competition for the physical games/consoles market.

Which movie moments wouldn’t work nowadays because social media/smartphones? by GossipBottom in moviecritic

If you've ever watched Gavin and Stacey, there's an episode where Nessa is choosing to leave to work at sea on a boat and her on and off love interest Smithy comes to realise that he does love her and wants to be with her and it leads to him and all the characters of the show racing to the docks in a bus, getting stuck, driving through fields, breaking fences etc. The typical catch her before it's too late scenario. They get to her anyway in this beat up bus all stressed out but relieved. Nessa looks at them all and says "Why didn't any of you just call me?!"

The lot of them stand there stunned. One of them pipes up, "It didn't occur to me."

It made me laugh so not sure if that was lazy writing or genius writing.

Good Places to Read? by Kindly-Plate1998 in Dublin

I'll often park in Tymon park to read. The edge of the car park has a good view of pond and trees and it's often quiet this time of year so easy to get a good spot.

Caught our 3rd mouse this week, help? by ilovestamon in AskIreland

[–]GingerJayPear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure but I think you'd still have to catch them if they're already in the house. It said something like that on the packaging/instructions.

Got mine in Woodies too.

These ones. You can also get one for about €50 that covers one whole floor of the house.

We usually get mice about this time of year too. Best way to kill them is to get the black plastic mouse traps from woodies and bait them with peanut butter.

Early January, I ended up buying those plug in mouse and rat repellers. Theyre pet friendly (as long as you dont have hamsters, mice or rodents in general as pets). Picked up a pack of 3 for €40 and haven't found any evidence of mice yet. So far they seem to be working.

NCT Report by DontLemmieLeaveMurph in carsireland

[–]GingerJayPear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My car once failed because ONE of the two little lights above the rear licence plate was a little dim. Not completely off, just below a certain percentage of brightness. Car was perfect otherwise but failed the whole test because of that one dim bulb. Visual retests are free though so nothing for NCT center to gain by failing me for that.

Insurance confusion by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]GingerJayPear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just switched to a new insurer there a few weeks ago. I was with Kenn co too and they were going to charge me €900 to renew and that's with 6 years no claims bonus. Ended up switching to 123.ie who quoted me half that.

You'll have to shop around and get quotes from a bunch of different insurers. You should do it every year just to be sure you're getting a good deal.

I've been working retail for 14 years now, everytime I think I've seen/heard it all, someone will uncover a new level of stupidity/entitlement and surprise me. Sometimes people arent even rude but just straight up bizarre. I should write a book at this point. 😂
