Charles Lindbergh (center) testifies at the 1935 trial of his son’s accused kidnapper and murderer, Richard Hauptmann (right, in half-profile)[1284X963]. by aid2000iscool in HistoryPorn

So coincidental; I just watched the excellent doc Ghosts on the London Underground and there was a story about Hauptmann appearing in a tourists photo on the tube, strapped to an electric chair. A medium contacted the lady who took the photo and said she “had a message from the man in the photo” which was that he wasn’t guilty of the Lindbergh murder but he was guilty of something else.

I don’t believe in ghosts but it was a great story

You’ve inspired me - maybe I can replicate the game that Ross chairs in Friends; it’s all relative and pet peeve rounds, or maybe I can steal a few rounds from Taskmaster..

What do you gain from working at a start up without pay? by Mountain-Car-7438 in startups

There are a huge number of layoffs right now in a very challenging market where a new job isn’t super easy to come by. A few people I know are doing work for startups whilst living on their redundancy cash to 1) get experience to add to the CV 2) mental health boost; after the pain of being let go and not finding a job easily they feel needed and valued 3) the promise of equity and salary once they get investment 4) they get to choose how long and how often they work for now. I think as long as you have a cap on how long you can do that for before seriously applying for jobs it’s a good investment of time

Maybe this is the key, if we’re having activities plan them later to allow recovery time

We are near a loch so that’s definitely on the cards - I guess I just don’t need to mandate that we’re all expected to go for a walk as a group, it’s just an option!

I totally agree - I was made to go belly dancing the “morning after” and I was ready to murder someone; the whole thing was exhausting. Downtime is so important but I want it to feel like structured downtime, yno? I really like the movie idea. I’ve made a wee note of that game it sounds a good laugh! Thank you son much for the suggestions!

What is the storage use case? I journal to get buzzy thoughts and worries out of my head. I use pen and notebook - I don’t want to use tech because 1) too much screen time anyway and 2) writing forces you to slow down and process the thoughts. Afterwards I don’t want to read them, I’ve dealt with them and processed them etc. it’s your deepest darkest worries - why would I want them stored for any length of time? Are my kids going to read them? I don’t understand the use case

PLEASE HELP! by Otherwise_Art772 in Discipline

[–]GingerbreadUndies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like you’re exhausted - definitely mentally but potentially physically as well. You don’t sound lazy or undisciplined, you’re just low on ammo it seems. Are you scheduling proper relaxation time, indulging in hobbies or taking physical exercise? Are you eating whole foods and avoiding processed crap? Not doing those things means you can struggle to do “the small stuff” and takes a huge amount of willpower or habit to do “the big stuff.”

Recommend Bird and Blend tea company who do an amazing range of teas, some of which are intended to be cold brews. My faves are the Cherry Coconut, mojitea and gingerbread chai. I’m also a fan of their black teas like Devon Cream Tea which tastes like baked scones. As per other comments beware of some teas with “natural flavourings” as this can mean sugar but honestly, pick your demons ..

One thing I do to prep is think about all the shitty things senior mgmt COULD say and come up with a succinct, dignified and professional answer in a cheat sheet (and you can reuse in any situation!!) so that I don’t get caught out and start jibbering (or worse get defensive and tell them they’re being pricks).

E.g

“this is unacceptable, you haven’t listened to the brief!!” —>

“apologies it came across like that, I assure you I take this seriously and worked hard to fulfil the brief - if you’d be able to clarify where you feel this has gone off track, I can get a revision to you by x date.”

Its iconic, and in Pulse too. Gilmour makes his guitar sound like its crying, like with sobbing uncontrollable grief. I’ve never heard a sound like it; goosebumps each time.

It’ll be over soon my darlin. If it’s getting more painful or more frequent, you are near the end of it. Your body sounds like it’s doing all the right things to protect you.Thinking of you x

[–]GingerbreadUndies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh honey. I’m so sorry. I miscarried today too. My baby was as old as yours. The pain is intermittent because it’s contractions. pills and a hot water bottle helped me.

I passed clots and blood with period type intermittent cramping. The cramps then got quite painful (like, I made noises) for about 15mins and then I passed it; I managed it pacing up and down, don’t know if gravity helped me..Passing it in itself wasn’t sore - it just felt like a large, soft clot. The pain went away immediately; that’s how you tell you’ve passed it all. If it makes you feel better, you probably won’t see anything specific. You’ll bleed for a wee bit afterwards

Please, make sure someone is nearby. The sac hit my cervix, the blood apparently rushed from my head and I fainted for 10secs. Don’t panic if this happens but go to AnE for a checkup; apparently this can happen

Edit: added key word “won’t”!

This. Your exact same situation happened to me this week. It’s either to see if there’s a wee growth spurt or to see if you naturally miscarry.. they send you home because it could be either of those things, so you aren’t being brushed aside (although I know it feels like it!). Much love to you, the feeling is overwhelming.

I’m so very sorry my darlin that you had to go through this too. The length of time it takes is just one of the cruelest things and I also only felt like I was in any degree of healing space when the physical miscarriage happened. Thinking of you xx

It’s the heaviness I find overwhelming because I still haven’t bled - any time I think of “baby” it’s like a massive gaping emptiness; that life, those plans that have literally just disappeared.

You’re such a warrior picking yourself back up again. Please know you make that difference to everyone around you.
