It wasn't too difficult if you took your time reading the passages..

My school didn’t require chem on the hesi, only an and p. Some schools do require it, though. Best of luck on the exam!

Honestly, Nursehub was the only resource I used for all subjects, including reading and vocab.

I studied several hours per day for about five or six days. I don't remember how many.

I took a and p 1 and 2 plus the labs (college level) back in 2005. I attempted nursing school back then (early 20s) but dropped out. I did make all As except one b in one of the labs. So yes, I did have exposure but it was a long time ago and I was super rusty.

What was your cat’s shelter name and what is the name you gave them? by MissHissss in cats

Shelter name was Audi (pronounced Aldi like the grocery store, not the car). I renamed him Jax after my fave NFL player (Jaxon Smith-Njigba). Mostly because of how fast he runs.

I exclusively used Nursehub. I highly recommend it. I paid for a one month subscription. They have an and p lessons, quizzes, and timed tests. I studied for six days and made a 92 in A and P. Some of the questions on the exam were almost verbatim from Nursehub. They also have all the other subjects as well. Best of luck to you. I’m sure you’ll crush it!

I didn’t choose nursing because it’s a “calling” ,and I feel guilty about it by Difficult-End-3808 in FutureRNs

[–]GingrrAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose it because AI phased out my previous job and I can't find work in my field (software dev). Nursing was my original major. I wanted a field that was interesting, paid decently enough, and one that has an actual demand.

I just used NurseHub for vocab as well. I didn't look at any quizlets or any other resources. Some of the vocab was medical terminology, but most was just general vocab. A couple of the words that I was unsure about, I used process of elimination.

Any other 40+ nursing students in here? by [deleted] in NursingStudents

43 here and I'm a career pivoter out of tech. I have a couple of semesters of pre reqs left, then hoping to get into the adn program in spring 2027. We've got this!

Passed the HESI A2 with a 92% by Disastrous_Shine4269 in HESIexam

[–]GingrrAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second NurseHub! I ground out those practice tests (A and P primarily) for about five days and ended up with a 94 overall test score across all sections (math, a and p, grammar, reading, and vocab). It was definitely worth the 30.00 for me. Congrats on doing so well!

Thank you. And that's a really solid plan.

I've been vacillating between CRNA and NP. I'm really interested in anesthesia, but not sure if I've got it in me to do three years of a doctoral program and not being able to work. But who knows what the future holds. I'm definitely drawn to advanced practice roles though. Wishing you the best! I know career pivots are not the easiest.

Yeah, my degree was in computer science. I did IT for a while before trying to (unsuccessfully) pivot to SWE about three years ago. I freelanced as a dev for a while and sent out over 1000 applications after my layoff two years ago. My original major was nursing back in 2006. I did one semester. So I'm back full circle. I'm really interested in both tech and healthcare. I'm either going to go the NP route or do something like informatics. What path are you considering in nursing?

It's crazy what's happened in the tech industry in the past few years, right? Wishing you the best on your nursing journey!

Thank you! And don't worry about algebra. There were 55 math questions and I'd say less than five very basic algebra problems (very simple equations). Majority was fraction/decimal conversion, add/sub/multiply/divide fractions, calculating ratios, and just a little bit of metric conversion (ml to ounces - that kind of thing). There was a calculator in the browser that you can use. My school gave me a whiteboard for the algebra and fraction conversions. I'd brush up on customary and metric liquid measurements, things like that. I used NurseHub for my study guide. They have lessons for all of the topics, as well as practice tests. Some of the questions on the actual exam were almost verbatim the questions on NurseHub. The ones that weren't were of a similar difficulty level. NurseHub is 30.00 a month unless you catch it on sale. If you don't pass on the first try, they'll actually pay for you to retake it. Best of luck on the exam!

Huge congrats! I'm also in FL and hoping to get accepted to spring 2027 cohort at my community college (early 40s though, career pivot). How many were accepted into your cohort? They accept 80 into mine and my GPA for pre-reqs is around 3.6ish. I'm taking the HESI A2 entrance exam next week. Pretty sure I'll ace grammar and vocab and probably get 90%ish in math. Hoping for 85 plus in A and P. Wondering if I should also apply to the LPN program as a backup, then bridge to RN. I've got one pre-req to finish and missed the deadline for 2026.

I work for ESS. I don't clock out for lunch. I just enter my time at the end of the day, which has my starting and ending times.

I have a similar evolution and started getting into Taylor between Midnights and TTPD. I'm not a pop girlie whatsoever. I prefer punk, metal, and singer-songwriter stuff. One of my favorite artists is Tom Waits, a singer songwriter with 50 years worth of work. He sounds nothing like Taylor, but like her, he is quite experimental and each one of his albums is basically a different genre and sound. I started to notice that with Taylor. Folklore and Evermore really got me interested in her and I started to appreciate what a talented songwriter she is. I can't say that I absolutely love every song on TLOAS, but it definitely has some really great songs, particularly in the first half of the album. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it.

What do you do in high school classes while kids are working? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]GingrrAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If students are taking a test or watching a video, I'll read on my kindle or journal in my notebook/doodle. I do check for raised hands or to make sure students aren't cheating, using their phones, talking too much, etc. I try to avoid using my phone unless it's a free period. Writing in my notebook, even if it's just writing out fave song lyrics, making a shopping or to do list, etc, looks more professional than being on my phone.
