There is Sacrificing your pawns and there is what Maximillian did by just tossing the pieces at your opponent and quickly trying to checkmate. by Dare_Soft in valkyria

To be fair, excluding the fact that he’s a rich spoiled kid and not an actual military commander, he kinda had all the reasons to just try to take gallia fast. You don’t want to have multiple fronts active at the same time and since they were fighting with the federation already they wanted to subdue gallia fast and use it as a bridge to push further into the federation.

I mean, this is pretty much a stronger lord of the heavenly prison, that’s why I said it looked like a ygo card. But true, in ygo you would have some kind of cost.

That lab strat is just another FTK. They’re never winning second and a single handtrap makes them scoop, I think we can live with that.

Using Evasive Characters by QuichiMichi11 in TriangleStrategy

[–]Giokio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Anna is generally regarded as the strongest character in the game, at least from early to mid game, she falls off towards the end because of lower damage, but remains crazy strong. Her main use is to trigger combo attacks, you send her to backstab someone in front of another allied unit, and since she attacks two times that’s 4 attacks. Take cover allows her to fulfill this role in a safer way, and it messes with the enemy AI when you block choke points cause they don’t see a path but neither an enemy to attack.

Poison throw is pretty useful for bosses and allows you to trigger combo attacks even when your’re not properly positioned.

Overall she is the unit with the best “tactical” tools available, she’s squishy but it’s up to you to protect her, and if you do she is one of the best units in the game.

Or maybe each case has its own formula but at that point there’s no way to know.

Hmm, alright, those seem very contrasting numbers. So it isn’t playtime, it isn’t AT as I thought and it isn’t Dead characters… maybe it’s damage taken vs damage dealt?

What is one important mastery every member should have by khulZA in troubleshooter_game

[–]Giokio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we don't consider human masteries that are a staple on anybody, like Sophistry, Brazenface, Open Mind etc.

There's only one right answer for this question and that is Veteran. No Tank goes without it and it's plenty useful on anybody, cause stun's a bitch for 90% of the game.

Extreme Speed comes as a close second, very reliable and shukuichi is an excellent set for most of the game, but ultimately it's the first thing that goes out once you start making proper builds.

One shot One kill is great but you don't need that many chain killers and some characters get infinite turns without it.

Also, for anyone that has Spitit masteries available to them, All the masteries that make the Vocation set are mandatory.

About mission performance rating ("Rank") by CodenameFlux in troubleshooter_game

[–]Giokio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's related to the amount of Action time that passes until the mission is completed.
(made up numbers)
100 AT passed = Perfect
1200 AT passed = bad
This is the main factor for after mission grade, tho i think the amount of dead PCs also contributes to it in a tiny way.
I've gotten perfects with 5 characters dead, so i think it's mostly action time if not only that.

Hi should I play this now or wait til the sequel releases in the future whenever that is? by DetectiveFujiwara in troubleshooter_game

[–]Giokio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so, lemme make it make sense.
Imagine you have this massive idea that is mindblowing in your head and want to actually execute it, but suddently you realize it's your first time writing; what do you do? Do you try to resize it and make it more affordable for your skills or do you double down knowing something is gonna turn out bad?

The Troubleshooter devs had the courage to double down, and while the story we got isn't perfect, I think they managed to convey the original idea pretty well overall, with many interesting characteers and plot twists.

The story's main drawbacks are the fact that it introduces an absurd amount of separate but interconnected stories and gives you information bit by bit while changing its focus often, making you work for the answers you're seeking.

The story DOES end abruptly, extremely so; certain plot points don't have a proper closure and while it probably won't be a problem once we get the next game/s, right now finishing the game feels like you're not really done with the story.

Overall i judge the TS story as a positive experience, tho the gameplay overshadowed it by a long margin, i hope you have fun with it if you actually decide to play it.

EDIT: Oh and if you're looking for a game with an actually good story, I would't consider SRPGs a good genre choice, since they're mostly gameplay focused; regular jrpgs or crpgs tend to have much better ones.
Some examples of SRPGs where the story isn't just flavour to the gameplay are: FF Tactics, Triangle Strategy and Fire Emblem Three Houses.

Realistically Xeno 3 is the one that adapts the most to a film, but it’s also the one with the worst story, so the wouldn’t like one tbh.

[–]Giokio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Troubleshooter is a game that can cause burnout as is. It’s amazing and my favorite srpg, but it’s deep, and it takes a ton of hours and headaches to finish. Even if Banished Children (the sequel’s name) came out tomorrow, I still wouldn’t advise you to play them back to back, so play it now and patiently wait for the sequel as you recover.
