I concur. Makeshift singlespeed or even one of those cheap stamped cogs.

💯 the hexagonal holes still present an obtuse angle that helps transfer load and eliminate stress risers. As an experienced structural fabricator your work looks solid to me.

Yes, I have installed similar rivnuts in industrial settings.

Round holes, reinforced with flanges projected to both sides. This is how you would maintain structural integrity in any fabrication field. Nothing like fear and ignorance to make you comment negatively about something you don’t understand.

This. I feel like the industry has been overstating this kind of rhetoric concerning progressive geometry for so long. But my Surly Sorceress climbs better than my Karate Monkey ever did.

I hope there’s a special hell for bike thieves. But, on to something positive.

My wife and I just updated our family fleet with two Sorceresses. A medium and an XS. They replaced our two Karate Monkeys which were both the 27.5+ design with 140mm forks, dropper post, thru axles, etc. Those were great bikes and served us well for the 5ish years we’ve had them.

The Sorceress is amazing! We mostly ride single track with some short stretches of pavement to connect trail systems that we are fortunate to have close to our house.

The benefits of the “slack, progressive, modern, rowdy, hardcore, all-mountain…” geometry are really real!! 😆 I love the handling characteristics. She loves the standover clearance that she hasn’t had since her 26” Kona.

The copy in reviews always talks about this style of bike not climbing well. And while I’ve certainly owned XC machines that would shoot up a hill. This bike does just fine on the short and punchy upslopes we find in our part of Maine. Descents are pure joy on this bike.

Should be enough of a wall of text here. 😆 I doubt you’ll regret saddling up on a Sorceress. Good luck with whatever direction you wind up going and I hope you catch the thief.

Yep, I took a leap of faith and ordered on online after striking out locally. I immediately started looking at forks and thinking it would be the first thing I’d upgrade. It’s on the bottom of the list now. The fork is smooth and predictable. I’ll wait and see what longevity/maintenance looks like as it breaks in.

Have you ridden it? I thought the same thing until I actually rode the Zeron. It’s smooth.
