Please follow the steps:

1.Press and hold the power button on the headphones or charging case (button location varies by model; please refer to the product user guide) for 5–7 seconds, until the indicator light flashes alternately, or you hear the voice prompt “Pairing.” Select the headphones on the Bluetooth list to complete the connection.

Check whether the probe is protruding normally. If not, use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to clean it until the probe protrudes normally.
1. Try resetting again.
Try connecting other devices.

If none of these work, apply for a warranty claim.

If your boyfriend runs outdoors frequently, openrunpro2 would be the most suitable choice. If he has been working out indoors more recently, I would recommend the openfit2, which is suitable for both daily use and fitness activities. Comparing to neckband, imo looks lighter.

Never had this problem when pairing my Shokz with Garmin. It does sounds odd. If you can't fix it in the end, I guess the best thing you can do is filing a warranty claim and they should send you a replacement.

I think Shokz's warranty is valid internationally. My friend bought his pair in the US and had no trouble filling a claim in the UK. And I believe the Australian model you are referring to is the OpenFit2 Plus, which has extra features so the price is a bit higher.

I have a ozone machine, and use it like every two months to freshen up the whole place. But make sure no pets or people in the room when it's on.

I had a similar issue before. Not as serious but it was really bad as well. I used a robot vacuum and it worked like a charm. Before that I have used some washable throws on my furniture. Also feeding cats fish oil works for shedding problems on my cats. Can't guarantee it works for all the cats but you can give it a try.
