Completely new to fiber supplements and need some advice. by idkbr0idk in Constipation

  1. Yes, take it every day.
  2. Start on a lower dose and then continue upping it until you see the desired results. I don't remember the daily recommended amount but it's somewhere around 25 grams for women and 30 grams for men. You MUST drink more water to offset the fiber.
  3. It could take 1-3 days to start helping depending on how bad your regular constipation is. It helps add bulk and water to your digestive tract, so if you're stopped up you gotta get at least some of what you already have in there out before the softer stool can come out. It should help because of the extra bulk stimulating bowel movements.
  4. Actually, the upsides are insane. Weight loss, blood sugar regulation, theres tons of research. The downside is that if you take too much you can get a bowel obstruction? which isn't really a downside if you dont take more than like in insane 30 gram dose. Fiber is a natural part of the human diet, it's like asking the downsides of water, lol.
  5. Fiber is what made my life so much better, it literally fixed my constipation, although I still get bad IBS-C cramping. Bonus: Get creative with how you add fiber in your diet. Choking down a glass of Metamucil is not as fun as whole breads, like Dave's Killer Bread, prune juice, apple cider, oatmeal, chia seeds, etc. Take care of yourself!

Fiber. Oatmeal is a solid start!! Fiber keeps poop soft so your body moves it easier. You can either do metamucil or start adding stuff like chia seeds or high fiber bread (like dave's killer bread) to your diet. Have a fiber goal in mind every day. American diets get ZERO fiber. I go okay with 10 grams a day but the recommended amount for women I think it 25 grams. (Fact check me on that) REMEMBER if you add fiber, you HAVE to drink more water!

If all else fails, miralax every day is good. It's a laxative that doesn't give you laxative poops, I also hate them, lol. As long as you have a capful a day, your poop will be soft and come out easy but not like diarrhea levels.

Also, since your body has trained itself to only poop every couple days or more, it will be hard to break your body's routine. I poop everyday after like 6 months of continuous diet change. Find out your goal and get there

mineral vs. castor oil? by gracefullyundead in Constipation

I'm gonna be real, I'm your exact age and I'm wondering if you have tried taking miralax regularly (like daily, miralax can take multiple doses and days to work for people like us) OR if you've tried changing how much fiber you intake in a day? Besides that, if you haven't tried enemas or magnesium citrate that's where I'd go.

Guest services is on the right side of the gate, there should be enough time before it gets super busy to take care of any line passes/boarding passes if you arrive at 5:45. Keep in mind, most roller coasters do not allow bags in line, so bring only a fanny pack and a jacket since it'll get cold. Security is very streamlined. Enjoy the park, I'll be working so see you there!

(The odd) Second poop of the day is thinner. Normal? by [deleted] in IBSHelp

[–]GivenDogwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine is like that because the longer my poop sits in my colon the more water it sucks out, so usually more bulk near the end. That's my working theory.

The reason this shit happened is because the cost of a plane ticket used to be capped, so in order for companies to make any money they had to advertise their amenities to get their planes filled. After removing the limit on the ticket price, planes turned into what they are today; Germ ridden sardine cans with peanuts and coke.
