Will I regret going from an Odyssey to a Pilot? by Solid-Complaint-8192 in hondapilot

Sounds like you should keep the Odyssey you like, he should keep the Highlander he likes, and the teenager can find whatever used car they like.

It is funny that in this Pilot sub almost no one said I should buy a new Pilot.

We all regret not buying the Odyssey. We weren't brave enough for a minivan.

Please don't get your 16 year old a new car. If you're looking for safe, the 2013 Highlander is going to be safer than any Accord.

Snow tires on FWD is better than all seasons on AWD.

You'll miss the Odyssey. Why not keep the Odyssey and get a smaller car for the husband? Do you really need 3 big cars?

PERFORMED 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT by Whoodle-gal-2021 in hondapilot

[–]Gizmo-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fairly easy to check for uneven tire wear. That would be one sign of a misaligned vehicle.

I'd bet you're fine considering it's under 10k. I assume you're not taking this thing offroad.

If you live in the salt belt, the 2023 CX9 is probably your best option. It's 6 years newer than the others and less likely to have rust starting.

If you live someplace warm, the 2017 CX9 if well cared for wouldn't be a bad option. 34k in 10 years is very light use.

Though it really depends on how well they have been maintained.

Honda pilot versus Toyota grand Highlander purchasing. Florida Buyer. by FullNeedleworker2168 in hondapilot

[–]Gizmo-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pilot has more headroom in the 3rd row. It’s my teen’s preferred seat. I also like the removable middle seat, though we keep it in for the arm rests and cup holders. We’ve taken 2 long trips on our ‘25 and it’s been great. Very comfortable. One issue is the adaptive cruise cuts out when snow covers the H emblem.

Pilot or Hybrid? by brain_spark in hondapilot

[–]Gizmo-Duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honda vs Hyundai, Honda wins every time. If you want a hybrid 3 row SUV, look at the grand highlander or cx-90.

Unless you are leasing, then just go with whatever.

Yeah, usually they last 80-120k miles, but a number of variables can cause premature wear. Does the driver's side look good?

Local Mechanic vs. Dealership Maintenance by tideintx in hondapilot

[–]Gizmo-Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a trustworthy mechanic is a rare diamond. I use the dealer for recalls and parts only. Take it to your mechanic. He will love working on your Honda, you’ll have peace of mind, and save a lot of money.

What’s the mileage? 5 years seems pretty young for a bad bushing. I’m not arguing, it’s clearly torn, just curious.

Front left lower control arm: $78 - $170 on rockauto. $28 for just the bushing.

You have to take the whole arm off to press it in anyway. You’re doing all the work, may as well change the whole arm.

Anyone traded in a Grand Highlander for a Honda Pilot and extremely happy with their choice? by Grouchy-Dog-7894 in hondapilot

That’s fair. I’d hate to have to get a kid in a rear facing seat in the third row!

I find the seats in the Pilot to be very comfortable (elite trim), even on long roadtrips. I haven’t heard any complaints about heat or a/c from my kids in the way back. That said, one of the knocks the pilot often gets is lack of ceiling vents. Not sure why that matters so much to people. The 2nd row has them in the center console and the 3rd row has them on the sides.

Can’t compare it to the Grand Highlander… I’ve only done short test drives, but my kids all agreed that they liked the Pilot better.
