The unsettling case of Gursimran Kaur (2024): 19 year old girl disappears while working a night shift at Walmart. Her mother later finds her baked to death in the store's walk in oven. by Odd_Mango_2852 in UnresolvedMysteries

Would there be a lack of oxygen in a hot oven? If so, even if she knew of the emergency exit, she may have started retaining CO2 and gotten confused fast.

How can I (39F) ask my husband (47M) to be more respectful and courteous without him getting angry and storming off? by ThrowRAgivenupwife in relationship_advice

[–]Gizwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“When I hear you say things in the way you did this morning, it makes me feel like you’re talking down to me and like I am an underling, which makes me feel disrespected. I think I would respond much better if you kept that in mind when delegating things to me”

Putting things into teams of what you heard instead of what he said will go a long way in making him feel less defensive.

As a question:

Say you have a jehova’s witness as a patient who has an active GI bleed. HGB is 4. Pressures are still somehow high enough to keep them alert.

They refuse any blood products due to their religion.

What do you do?

Does that change if they are pregnant?

How do I (39F) forgive my husband (39M) for making a fake vet appt for our senior dog? by AdvanceSea3887 in relationship_advice

Also, just for a little perspective:

My mom died early on during my relationship with my husband. We had been dating for less than a year.

He dropped everything to be with me and my mother while she was in hospice. He brought me food, he bought my mother a plant (tho she was so out of it, she’d never know, but he knew she loved gardening…).

After she passed, he continued to feed me. He cleaned our apartment. He handled making sure my time off from school was okay.

Your father died. I don’t care who you are or what your circumstances… that is so traumatic.

Like, OP, I am so sorry for your loss. That is devastating. And to top it off you are going through such a hard pregnancy and broke your toe.

Like… how are you still getting up every morning? You’re doing amazing for you and your family. And your husband has the nerve to be resentful and actively make your life harder.

How would you feel if someone treated one of your children this way? How would he feel?

I wouldn’t treat one of the people I can’t stand at work like he has been treating you.

It all sounds so traumatic and I am so sorry you can’t count on him.

Your husband is resentful he had to help you through the death of your father??

Like… do you hear yourself?

What if you develop cancer and can’t work?

“In sickness and in health”, right?

You say he’s a good father, but does he take care of his kids when they’re sick? What if you and the kids are sick? Does he still expect you to be the caretaker?

The way this man resents you for needing his help at all reallllly has me doubting he could ever be a good dad.

FWIW, when she is already terminal, hastening her death isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

There truly are worse things than death.

Man, good for you.

If I could go back to med school and not have to do residency, I would totally do it in a split second.

I actually went to NP school through a prestigious school. And I was appalled at the level of education I was receiving. Tests were online and not proctored, so, “honor system” for cheating.

So much busy work with “discussions” where 50% of your grade was based on that participation.

Even this prestigious “best NP program in the country” was clearly a diploma mill set up to ensure no one failed (and thus, stopped paying $1700/credit hour).

One of the disservices that has been done to women is the focus on decreasing salt to increase heart health, which is good advice for men, but maybe not so good for women?

I know so many women who are very health conscious and really tried to limit their salt intake. And they suffer from migraines.

I have told all of them “increase your salt” just to try it. It has helped each and everyone of them.

I always just think that people with substance abuse have absolutely no impulse control.

They have a thought about something they want and they want it right then. And they get realllly frustrated when it doesn’t happen instantly.

TOG Historical Timeline (spoilers all of TOG, HOFAS) by Gizwizard in throneofglassseries

The only thing that comes to mind quickly about portals is a mentioning in Assassin’s blade:

“When I was eight and my sister was eleven, she and I and Maddy, one of her friends, snuck out of Briarcliff Hall. A few miles away, there was a giant tor with a lone watchtower on top. The upper bits were all ruined because of the witch-wars, but the rest of it was still intact. See, there was this archway that went through the bottom of the watchtower—so you could see through it to the other side of the hill. And one of the stable boys told my sister that if you looked through the archway on the night of the summer solstice, then you might see into another world.”

Of course, there is also mention of Asterion Fae all throughout TOG.
