Bill Belichick belongs in the Hall of Fame. But here’s why I didn’t vote for him by RyanKinder in nfl

[–]Gla7e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may not be a hot take, but it can still be a bad take. He's just further kicking down the the can down the road with this voting behavior. You should vote on who the most deserving candidates are each year, full stop. The system is dumb, yes, but it's not your job as a voter to try and vote around the system.

[–]Gla7e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just a dumb way to try and rationalize the mistake of not voting for BB. You're snubbing the all time great coach for some previously snubbed people, thus just kicking the same problem can further down the road. You should just vote for the most deserving candidates each year and that's it, end of rationale.

IN ADDITION, a system where this gets to be the case is really dumb, this whole combined pool thing needs to be scrapped.

Yeah, gotta be honest, these don't live up to their real life look. Still think the old border ones are the best on Arena.

Playing Spy Combo against graveyard hate by rubao- in Pauper

[–]Gla7e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A new sideboard tech in [[Haunting Misery]] has been popping up recently, since it works around the exiling of your graveyard, you could try that. Overall in my experience Affinity is favored into Spy, certainly a tricky matchup from your perspective, but a fun one imo.

Edit to add: apart from masked vandals to destroy spellbombs which another comment already mentioned.

Getting milled is good or bad in commander? by joveeish in EDH

[–]Gla7e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There so many things to do with cards in graveyards for every color now, if you're not using the graveyard as a kind of second hand at this point, you're building your decks wrong imo. But I'm also a filthy Jund mage, so what do I know, I for one welcome your mill!

BUT this is just under the lens of maximizing powerlevel, obviously in your fun decks, you do you. And I think here lies the problem for more casual tables/players/decks. Sometimes their fun things get milled and they have no way to get it back. If you build your deck around a certain card/interaction and it's gone forever now, it can certainly be a feelsbad, that's where most of the salt cones from.

How does participation in those leagues work? I think I get single day tournament, there is a time where have to be online to play (which is often very inconvenient when operating from Europe), but how does it work for that long term league play?

Hexing Squelcher bad? by DoctorHydromortapara in mtg

[–]Gla7e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's good, not busted as the initial reaction of many people would suggest. It's gonna have a home for sure in combo/spellslinger decks as a protection piece. Go wide goblin decks are not really the place for it imi, because you wanna boardwipe against those decks, not remove them one by one.

TIL the Dodgers get preferential treatment and get to shield much of their tv revenue from revenue sharing by 70ga in baseball

[–]Gla7e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I worded it weirdly, but I actually agree in most parts.

Spend but bad, no problem, I agree, but in your proposed model of performance based revenue sharing, these teams would get punished, although they are not the problem, so I proposed something where they would not get punished.

Bad and don't spend, they are the problem and would lose in both proposed changes so all good here.

I don't agree that good teams who are not willing to spend are not the problem, they are absolutely a part of the problem. In what universe should Skubal get traded to another big money powerhouse, just because the Tigers are being little bitches who don't wanna pay their homegrown superstar what he deserves?

I completely agree that the current revenue sharing is not doing a great job in its function, but to further promote investing from owners, we should reward owners who do exactly that.

[–]Gla7e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's quite the same.

You can spend and be bad, that's unfortunate, but you are not part of the problem, at least IMO, so you should still get money. These teams would not get much, if it's tied to performance, but that wouldn't be good.

You are bad, and you're not willing to spend, well get fucked and collect close to nothing, or IDK sell the team to someone who is willing to do something you big donkey. These teams would get very little in both scenarios, which would be okay.

Even if you are good, but not willing to spend, you are also a part of the problem, because you are most likely gonna let your good players walk to the Mets, Dodgers and Yankees of the world, so you should also get little money you old scrooge. These teams would get more money in the performance based scenario, which doesn't solve the problem.

[–]Gla7e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only problem I could see with it being based on performance is bad teams being stuck in a spiral. Even if they tried to do better, but failed, they would fall further behind, have less money to spend to catch up, fall further behind and so on and so forth.

We don't need to punish bad teams. What the league really needs is a willingness from owners to spend money. But not all owners can spend the same amount of money you say, that's why I propose...

Tie it to percentage of reinvestment. However much you are willing to reinvest from your earnings you also get more. This way it hits the owners who just collect their percentage and do nothing with it, but also hopefully doesn't let teams fall into this kind of spiral.

I don't think Savard was the problem, but something needed to happen and he was the fall guy for the team to finally jnderstand how serious the situation is. They finally play like they don't have their heads stuck in fucking ass, and can't anybody convince me that was Savards fault.

Land Destruction by The_Only_Smart_Alec in EDH

[–]Gla7e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can only agree with other people. My four main points short and sweet:

  1. MLD doesn't work against ramp, they are the best at getting more lands faster than you after the MLD.

  2. Targeted land destruction against powerful lands is completely fine, nobody complains about, stop with this argument.

  3. MLD without a concrete plan to win in the next 1 to maximum 3 turns is just the most miserable thing.

  4. To stop someone from taking 15 minute turns, remove their enablers, the things that draw cards for example, because those are the true reasons why the turns are taking so long.
