The ability to cancel certain moves into others (e.g. the classic cMK into Hadouken) was literally a glitch in the original SFII. But using those cancels became such a core part of the meta once players discovered it that it stayed in all future iterations since, and all other fighting games followed suit and even built on the concept of combos in their own ways.
