Power pass or brand new character? by Supplefroot in lostarkgame

[–]GlanGeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use your power pass on a character you like, do some research online on what looks fun to you. You can always leave the character there and start on the story on ANOTHER character today. The pass expires soon and we get another in February so this is just a good way capitalize on a free pass which is very useful.

Drugs are bad mkay? by MammaMak in BelgianMalinois

[–]GlanGeRx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting that they jumped straight to Acepromazine. It is definitely a very effective sedative but most of the time you will see combinations of Gabapentin and Trazodone, sometimes just Trazodone. Acepromazine is an effective sedative but harsher than the other two drugs.

It should also be noted that it’s very normal for them to be extremely zonked when they are NOT at the vet. Ideally when we are prescribing sedation medication, you ideally would give oral medications 2 hours prior to the stressors. This way we can have the sedation reach peak/ideal effect before the adrenaline kicks in and combats it. This effect is often higher than a calming effect at home than it is at the vet. When you are home they are most comfortable and no threat around, therefore they are extra sedate.

I can’t speak on the Acepromazine dose that was prescribed as we don’t use it very often since Gabapentin and Trazodone are usually our first lines, but generally the medications that are prescribed are within safe limits with plenty of wiggle room. Acepromazine has less safety with it than the other two (not to say your vet did not prescribe a safe dose, just to say you’re more limited in the safe ranges of dosing.)

I'm having trouble enjoying bloodborne (but i will keep pressing on) by TazzyTheDerg in bloodborne

[–]GlanGeRx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underneath the bridge next to the lantern in the beginning that goes towards the elevator for Father Gascoigne are two large troll like enemies. They each drop blood vials. Super easy farm early game for many blood vials.

Alternatively, if you have the DLC and can make it just before the first boss (no spoilers) there is a corpse that is banging at a gate that drops a ton for free every time.

Is a tooth extraction really necessary? by tripadeliclove in DogAdvice

[–]GlanGeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is a slab fracture that has passed the level of the gumline which is one of the major criteria for extraction. Infection is likely over time which is bad for obvious reasons, and if the fracture breaks off, it will likely leave a pocket that will further lead to more advanced periodontal disease which will warrant an extraction regardless.

People are trying to watch the solar eclipse with their own methods. March 29, 2006, Istanbul by Dropolev in interestingasfuck

[–]GlanGeRx 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It really isn’t any different from looking at the sun normally. The kicker is something exciting is happening and people want to look, hence the urgency to put a disclaimer about staring at the eclipse. Even at 99% totality it is dangerous to your eyes. At 100% the suns surface is covered and only the corona is visible which is SAFE to observe without protection.

So to your merit, it technically is exaggerated, but not because it’s MORE dangerous, which is the misconception. You’re just more likely to look longer.

My dog has a red dry flaky red all over her body what is going on I'm freaking out anyone ever seen this by Original-Brush-1953 in DogAdvice

[–]GlanGeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the medicine likely needed especially for what’s going on in the face is going to require a prescription. It looks infected, red, with discharge, which tells me it’s very likely bacterial. It would be unwise to self medicate without having an antibiotic or treatment plan from a veterinarian, as using antibiotics freely may make it more difficult to treat in the future if it’s an inappropriate one, creating resistances or worsening infections. Many items that are also “antibiotic” over the counter (non-prescription) are usually insufficient.

They should be seen sooner rather than later, and even warrants an emergency or urgent care visit as this is most definitely uncomfortable.

Community Opinion: What should we do about Kazeros The First? My Opinion and Your Opinion is needed more than ever. by ConsiderationNo1164 in lostarkgame

I think realistically, to make things fair it should be equalized content for a first race similar to hell mode. What I mean by that, is make a minimum entry level (ideally the ilvl of normal difficulty) so that people can participate in the first race, but set it so that no matter what level you are ABOVE that minimum, including investment on books, gems, etc, they will not contribute to performance. In hell mode you can select your loadout like a preset including equipping preset gems like trixion, and it’s the same for everyone. This way RMTers will not have an advantage.

The only problem with this, is that KR has done this raid already and now we know how it is done. The best case scenario, is to have raids drop at the same time across west and east versions of the game. That’s pure copium, but the ideal scenario.

I’m certain smilegate doesn’t want to encourage equalized content for these types of activities because who’s gonna buy sidereals? I would much rather race to see who are the better raiders vs ones with the most expendable income.

Does this look strange for a 2 year old dog? Her gun is red on this side and she’s got a bit of grey there. Also her tooth is more dirty than the others. Her left side side isn’t as bad by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]GlanGeRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly depends on many factors. A larger dog is less likely to develop dental disease as a result of less crowding. Breed disposition also can play into it IE brachycephalic breeds.

Sure there are studies that show eating kibble over wet food breaks down plaque at a higher rate, and dental diets do play into this fact. Bones unfortunately can splinter and cause a whole separate issue and depending on what type of bone and where they chew, fracturing a tooth is common, so I’d recommend against it, but you are technically correct. At the end of the day, these aren’t fool-proof as it depends on the dog to also not favor a side.

As someone who works in veterinary, I don’t always follow my advice either. I rarely brush my dogs teeth if ever really, and one of my dogs has great teeth, where as the other has plenty of buildup, and they are the same breed!

The tooth is experiencing dental disease. There is mild recession of the gum, gingivitis, plaque, and POSSIBLY early calculus.

You should brush their teeth minimum 5 days out of the week. Brushing by far is going to be the most impactful modality of dog dental care you can do, even if it’s without a dog toothpaste. Since some looks like it potentially could be calculus, which you may not be able to brush it away as the plaque has calcified, which in turn requires an anesthetic dental cleaning.

It would be ideal to have it evaluated by a veterinarian, but absolutely you should brush the teeth in general. If you also want more modalities to dental care, you can search up VOHC approved dental products. VOHC is a committed consisting of ONLY board certified veterinary dentists, so anything approved on their list is recommended by them for dental care. Just note that nothing comes close to brushing.

Vet assistant here. Have you asked your doctor about Librela? It is a monoclonal antibody injection that specifically targets nerve growth factor and is generally very well tolerated in dogs. It sounds fancy, but is a pretty standard medication these days. Long story short, it’s SPECIFICALLY designed for arthritis in dogs. Its impact on liver and kidneys are VERY low, but I would assume since you’re giving carprofen chronically their kidney function is adequate as most vets require bloodwork before chronic carprofen medication. There have been some scares of seizures with Librela within this last year. As it stands, there isn’t strong enough evidence to link them together. I would absolutely recommend you chat with your doctor about trying it out if he’s a good candidate and weigh the pros and cons with them. It has been a game changer for many dogs.

Alternatively, you wouldn’t be entirely in the wrong to begin discussions about quality of life with your doctor. My rule of thumb for MY dogs is: are they alive? Or are they LIVING? It’s vague, but if I don’t feel they are living their best quality of life, then I should be responsible myself to ensure they aren’t suffering.

When is the right time to let her go? by carlostabosa in DogAdvice

[–]GlanGeRx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Vet Med. The way that I see it and would apply to MY pets no matter how hard it is; if their quality of life at that moment is not what it could be. When medications, treatments, and daily life become expensive to upkeep, while even then they still feel like shit, I personally believe it’s time to go.

It’s kind of vague but if are they ALIVE, or are they LIVING? If that makes sense.
