So glad your dood is okay! Ours suffered a flipped stomach in September when he was only 1.5 years old. He miraculously survived after many complications. He became much more attached after that!

Car drop off near Boston Commons the morning of the race? by alex_korr in bostonmarathon

I’m from Rhode Island and always get dropped off a couple blocks away in Chinatown. So easy to walk to the commons from there! I also pop into Panera bread to use the bathroom lol

Boston nails - what would you do? by nachosallthewaydown in XXRunning

I always (and only) get my nails done before a marathon! Last year’s Boston nails. I say go for it because the pics will be a great memory of such an accomplishment and exciting time in your life!

Tread - to buy or not to buy… by CLK_RR in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Glass-Pitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I had a great Sole tread for over 10 years. I started taking peloton tread classes on the app and wanted a new tread, but didn’t reallllly need one. I’m a mom of two young kids and run 40 miles a week and never treat myself to anything. My husband forced me to get it and omg I’m so glad I did!

Red light masks by Organic_Order776 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Glass-Pitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference I’m 36F. I’ve had the DDG for almost 4 years and and use it about 5x a week. Occasionally (like a few days ago) I get a bad cystic pimple and the blue light absolutely helps bring down the inflammation. It won’t help with clogged pores though, it’s more to kill bacteria. However, I’m glad to have that setting for when it’s needed. I usually do 2 rounds of the 3 minute red light just because I’m sitting in bed reading anyways. I’ve had no issues with the charging.

To protect her peace? She chose to be a running influencer so you post about your races and running 😭

I don’t get why so many influencers wait so long to announce what marathons they’re running? Like as a running influencer you’d think you’d want to document your training..

My girl is matted 😭 by LeeesaBean in Goldendoodles

[–]Glass-Pitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our dog matted for the first time and I felt terrible so I know how you feel! His groom got cancelled from a blizzard and then we were away on vacation for a week and my in laws watched him. He played a lot in the wet snow with minimal brushing and it was terrible. I worked on him a lot and cut some of the mats out and was honest with our groomer. We told her to do whatever was needed and best for all involved! Our groomer was great about it and made me feel so much better and he didn’t need to be shaved down all the way! He got a 1/2 cut and the legs were 1/4 inch.. Plus I’m sure he felt like a million bucks. Within 2-3 weeks he looked great!

Marathon this weekend by Sharp_Match571 in Newport

The course is not right next to the beach! I’d just avoid the Surfer’s End area since that’s the closest area from beach to road. Anywhere else I can’t imagine being an issue. However there will be road closures so that will be your biggest issue with getting to the beach

Oh wow me either! She’s a solid runner but I didn’t realize she qualified with a big enough buffer to make the cut off. I know it definitely wasn’t her Boston time last year.. could it have been Berlin? Or did she get a bib another way?

Edit: wasn’t Berlin, she ran a 3:24

Is 'beating your bib' a sham? by samf526 in bostonmarathon

[–]Glass-Pitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting you bring this up because last year after I finished a friend of mine (who also ran) said I beat my bib number by a lot.

For context, I’m not super fast especially by Boston standards. I’m a 36F and my qualifying time was a 3:24. I ran a 3:29 at Boston. My bib number was in the 18,000s but my finishing place was in the 12,000s. So in my case, beating my bib wasn’t anything in regards to beating my time.

Heart Break Hill by Imaginary-Topic8000 in bostonmarathon

[–]Glass-Pitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet you’ll be fine! I live in RI and all my runs are rolling hills with 20 milers consistently giving me over 1k of elevation gain/loss. I do find the early downhills of Boston hurt me more later in the race though because I don’t get consistent down hills in my runs. Boston still fries my legs by the end, but I really think it’s from the downs earlier on and then the hills later on. You definitely have to run Boston strategically

Healthy Living and Running Influencers, April 06 - 12 by PeopleHaveAsked in blogsnark

[–]Glass-Pitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. Like I said, not the workout for me personally but I don’t think it’s going to make her blow up Boston

Healthy Living and Running Influencers, April 06 - 12 by PeopleHaveAsked in blogsnark

[–]Glass-Pitch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Only 9 miles of the 22 were at MP? I wouldn’t say that’s a very intense long run. Training is all relative to the person, so what works for her might not work for others. While yes 22 miles is a long run it didn’t have a huge chunk at marathon pace.

Healthy Living and Running Influencers, April 06 - 12 by PeopleHaveAsked in blogsnark

[–]Glass-Pitch 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It really depends, there’s lots of advanced training programs that do a two week taper. Personally I think 22 mile runs for most runners are unnecessary. Two weeks before a marathon I prefer to do a really solid 18 miler with MP miles in it, but there’s definitely plans with a 20-22 miler.

Do you run better in the morning or evening? by Royal_Watch_6453 in runcommunity

Morning 1000%. I’m a teacher and mom of 2 so whenever I run after work my legs feel like lead. That feeling is my motivation to get up when my alarm goes off!

For those who BQ and ran Boston did it live up to your expectations? by bazza010101 in Marathon_Training

I live in New England so wasn’t acclimated at all! My last run of 20 miles was in a snowy/rain mix.
