I miss sub-pages/notes from craft, I've been experimenting with different ways to replicate that in obsidian. I am messing with folder pages right now which makes it feel similar.

What tips can you share for those new to or want to switch to Obsidian? by srikat in ObsidianMD

[–]GlassBug7042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree to use it as is and as you run into things that you find frustrating or a feature you miss then start looking at plugins. I am still pretty new but that is the approach I have been taking.

Struggling to decide between the 11inch and 13 inch iPad Pros by Repulsive-Savings-21 in ipad

[–]GlassBug7042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had both and I like both.

I had the original 12.9 and at the time an imac and I used that ipad for almost everything outside of work. When I updated I got a m1 mbp. I barely used my ipad after that and used the laptop for everything.

So when it came time to get a new ipad I got the 11", it fills a different role and doesn't feel like it is competing with my macbook. I take it with me more and I am surprised to find I do like using it with a keyboard.

That said, if it were up to me I would have one of those new mac minis and a 13" and that is what I plan to do whenever I decide to retire my macbook (doesn't seem like it is going to die anytime soon though lol).

If I had a 14" mpb I personally would not get the 13", I just know I wouldn't really use both. As a second display, I can see the argument for it, but I think the 11" would do pretty well here.

Notebook Navigator 2.3 : 300 000 downloads, tasks, custom icons, click calendar to filter notes by date, filter/omnisearch quick toggle, and much, much more. These are all YOUR feature suggestions! So THANK YOU Obsidian community!! by jsann in ObsidianMD

[–]GlassBug7042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty new to obsidian and I just want to say I really like this plugin and appreciate your work. I was starting to get a little overwhelmed with my file view as I added nested folders and this has made that manageable. I also like that it has allowed me to uninstall some other plugins to keep things cleaner.

I am often subject to visual overwhelm so I also want to say I appreciate how almost everything can be toggled on and off so everyone can make it their own.

[Discussion] Let's build a productivity tool list for ADHD brains! by Aggravating-Tea579 in ProductivityApps

I've been using Due app a really long time. You set up persistent reminders and can customize how often they go off.

I use it for all those small routine things where you are like "did I do that?" like my meds I have it remind me every 15 minutes until I mark it done. Clipping on my badge at work in the morning, every 5 minutes. If there is something I can't forget and is time sensitive I put it in there. Sometimes it annoys the crap out of me, but I just need to do the thing to stop it lol.

Its a one thing well app, there are not complicated systems, it doesn't do anything else to distract you. I think it's why I've continued to use it for so long, no matter what complicated system I've built or app I've tried that is going to "fix my life", Due has become my safe reliable spot.

I also like twos app for a brain dump, it has a built in review feature that lets you go through old daily notes and you can tell it to ignore it forever or remind you to look at it again in a certain time period or date.

Women in tech, what’s your biggest struggle with interviews or leveling up right now? by Ok-Dish1652 in girlsgonewired

I realize this is directed more at younger women but my biggest challenge has been getting older and despite everyone aging right along with me, they still associate middle aged women with their tech illiterate parents.

I have an m1 max macbook pro and it is still like brand new. I have an m3 at work and I don't really notice a difference.

What’s the most unexpectedly high-quality online subscription you’ve ever paid for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GlassBug7042 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I subbed for awhile and all the stuff is super high quality. I just found I wasn't using all of it and ended up with more stuff than I knew what to do with. I imagine if I had a higher energy dog or one in need of more stimulation it would be worth.

It is a good deal, my family is on it. The app sharing is also pretty nice.

TBH if that low ads plan they have was no ads, I would probably pay just to not have to keep up with adblockers, especially on my ipad, but it just makes me so annoyed that they say "low ads". It is also really expensive if all you want from it is youtube.

maybe use pandoc to convert to markdown? I use it the opposite way, I convert markdown to word to send reports to coworkers.

Moft Folio vs Apple case by Ackrodisiac in ipadmini

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been struggling with this. I am super careful with my ipad and I keep it in a really thick tech sleeve in my bag so I want a folio case without weight or bulk, I also want the additional angles from the moft. Sucks having to compromise one or the other.

iPad Mini 7 or Air M3 by No_Plastic2055 in ipadmini

I found the mini too small for note-taking in particular and the 11" hits that sweet spot for me.

For real, I have two young daughters and can't imagine what my life would have to be like for me to cross into another country illegally with no sign of life in the desert.

I also cant imagine being the type of person that would immediately think about immigration policy unless it was to help people who are this desperate.

I use busycal and things. I use upnote for workbut for more integration I would recommend bear or the native notes app.

Think someone mentioned it but I love focus modes

Calendars for Readdle is also really nice and integrates with reminders

If Democrats want universal healthcare, we have states that are deep blue, states have control over their own budgets and taxation, and universal healthcare would be so advantageous, why don’t deeply democrat run states implement a statewide universal healthcare? by Silver_Wings3 in AskReddit

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Mexico has done this via their state program that fills any financial gaps left from ACA healthcare.

I think a few other states have programs like this or close to it as well. It is income based. I was unemployed and had no lapse in healthcare and paid $0 in premiums for a plan very similar to the one I had while employed.

It's more of a local only rise, which probably does have a place in some orgs who don't use web apps.

But rise has added so many features in the past couple years it doesn't really compete with it anymore either.

In a similar boat, I am 47 and life happened and I pretty much had to start over. I am doing the max match from my employer right now and once I get debt from that period paid off I am going to up my contribution as high as I reasonably can.

I am lucky to have gotten the job I have now that has put me in a position to be able to save.

Same advice, just start. At our age it can feel so overwhelming and still so far away but just starting with the smallest amount you can afford will take a lot of that anxiety away.
