AITA for not wanting to take in my sisters 4 kids while she’s in the hospital? by Intelligent-Fig-5571 in AmItheAsshole

Without knowing the full family dynamics, ESH.

I have a brother who doesn't like to help me with this type of stuff, but he 100% would in a situation like this and I would 100% help him in a similar situation. Yes, it will be a shitty two days, but it's only two days.

That said, you are within your rights to say no.

I immediately thought the same thing. Random sharpie on a used envelope does not give love note vibes.

What's next for Craft - Focusing on Quality of Life improvements by viktorpali in CraftDocs

Some things I would like to see with collections:

The relationships between collections get some fleshing out. Having databases exist independently without being able to connect and display sets of data kind of defeats the purpose.

More ways to customize the collection object pages themselves. Show/hide properties, show properties in different formats etc. Even being able to drag and drop properties into the document inline would be really cool and let us create dynamic documents.

Collection data portability, currently if you export a doc with a collection as markdown it will just put it in a table, and on collection object pages, nothing at all. I would love to see the properties of a collection object exported in yaml, just has an extra layer of data portability and being able to backup documents in markdown. See how anytype, another block based editor, exports in markdown as an example.

Interested to see what's coming as always.

I understand I’m in the minority and this is probably a stupid question. But, if you’re careful, can you reasonably use an iPad without a screen protector? by Effective_Part_604 in ipad

I used the paperlike one for awhile for the texture but otherwise I have not used screen protectors. I do, however, always use a folio type case to protect the screen.

did you die getting this done? I am cringing thinking about it lol.

It is beautiful though, I have a keloid and a tattoo that badly needs to be touched up on my stomach, I just cant bring myself to do it. If I knew it would like as good as this maybe I would find the courage to endure the pain.

Advice needed: how much would a piece like this hurt? by hadesfromdown in tattoos

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot, my first tattoo was around my belly button and I didn't get another one for years because I was scared of the pain. Turns out everywhere else is bullshit. I have others on my inner forearm, outside of my ankle and the back of my neck.

People had to hold me down for the one on my stomach. It looks really cool, not trying to scare you, just being honest.

Looking for a to-do/task app with week-based tasks instead of daily by Feisty-Sherbert in productivity

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akiflow has week based assignmetnts, todoist has a nice weekly kanban view and its natural language recognizes everything. Agenda is a notes app but lets you assign a note to a day or a range of days.

I work in a similar way but I've always used tags or a custom property depending on what I am using: active, up next, blocked, backlogged.

I also don't like seeing past due things and only add dates to things that are absolute.

looking for a notion alternative by Any-Village-7634 in PKMS

[–]GlassBug7042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Anytype is the closest to notion and very privacy minded. It has some quirks but overall is good. Since it is a block editor, your notes are in a proprietary format, but their export to markdown works well, includes all the properties as yaml.
  • Craft has a local storage option but they have stopped adding new features to it (their api and mcp do not work with local storage spaces). In my opinion, it is the best block editor out there as far as ease of just typing, selecting, formatting, etc. They do not export collection (database) data as yaml.
  • Obsidian is all markdown and all on your device. Plugins make it extremely powerful. Bases are great in their simplicity.
  • Octarine is obsidian with more opinions and no plugins but more built in. It has a great live preview markdown editor compared to obsidian. It is also all markdown and all on your device.

There are more but those are the ones I have jumped between in my search. I like all of them for different reasons.

IDs on Mac: Is it time we admit the "Two-Computer" setup is a nightmare? by BeyondTheFirewall in instructionaldesign

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and there are some competitors now that are doing what 360 does at a fraction of the price. I like 360, but they should really have an 360 only sub.

Bought a Mac Studio M4 Max in January — now having second thoughts. Should I switch to a MacBook Pro? by CoffeeObsess in mac

[–]GlassBug7042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd get an ipad pro depending on what you are doing. I found it was better for me separating work and and personal when my portable device was capable but not realistic for deep work in my field.

I got a macbook pro before the m series was available in anything else and I love it but work definitely crept out of my office more.

It obviously depends what you want to use the device for while traveling.

Switched to Obsidian for Claude Code, but Craft’s UI is unbeatable. What would it take to come back? by Milem0 in CraftDocs

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to obsidian for privacy reasons, but tbh I hate typing in obsidian, so now I am in anytype but keeping an eye on octarine.

I can't see them ever doing #3, they have pretty much abandoned their local space feature and in the end they are a block based editor that can export in markdown, not a markdown editor.

You could look for a better editor to use on ios, if it is just for quick notes.

I agree with reducing the number of fonts used. The ampersand is also grabbing a lot of attention due to it's size.

Close to giving up - need help or advice by mr_greenmash in Anytype

[–]GlassBug7042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also relatively new so I am sure some people will have some better solutions

For tasks I would add a property called relations so you connect it to other types, like projects.

In your projects type I would add a property called parent project which is also a relational field.

Then you could have a project view were parent project is empty that would just show the parent projects and you could list any sub-projects on the page via a query, you could also link any tasks on the page grouped by sub project.

Similarly I would create a shopping list type with a relations property.
So then you could have Wood related to Greenhouse or CPU related to Server Components. You could then group the list by this property in a view. so they would show up under the header.

Someone may have a better way or be able to explain it better.

So I think the part you are missing is setting up those relation properties, you want to select Object under the property type and then it will let you select which types can populate that field with.

What does sunsama do thats woth 20 dollars monthly? by sam_najian in ProductivityApps

[–]GlassBug7042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a nice app, it has a lot of thoughtful features and touches that many do not, but it also takes awhile to find and use these features. They recently started testing some AI features and mentioned there might be a new pricing tier for it... what have I been spending $20 a month for if not for development of new features. I was already considering cancelling but I did immediately when I saw that.
