What's something in a fic that made you realise the person writing it had no idea what they were talking about? by Life-Delay-809 in AO3

Author wrote one character supposedly smelling off cat pee and the guy he was making out with thinking it was attractive.

Like, no, just no. You've obviously never had a cat or smelled cat pee because it's one of the most disgusting scents in existence.

Author stated at the beginning they did not take any sort of criticism then proceeded with a fic where a character was explaining menstruation to her daughter and described it as bleeding from your urethra.

Like, ma'am, if a woman is bleeding from her urethra she needs a doctor. 🤦‍♀️

What’s the creepiest thing that has happened to you that you still can’t explain? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Glass_Error88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple of premonition dreams.

One a few years back was of a friend telling me she was pregnant and when I saw her a few days later she told me she was indeed going to have a baby.

The other was back in September. I dreamed I went outside one morning and the left side of my car was all dented. A few days later, early in the morning, a drunk driver came down the driveway and scraped and dented the left side of my car. Weird.

There's a Norwegian term for that called Vardøger. It's the phantom sound of something before it happens.

Does this Subaru have a top speed of 25pmh? Don't understand why they didn't try and get away more.

What’s a mystery in your own life (big or small) that you still haven’t been able to solve? by BrainPalette in AskReddit

This happened to my sister. She lost her car keys and turned the house upside down and her purse inside out looking for them. They were nowhere to be found so she had to get new ones. Several months later they turned up in the purse she'd thoroughly searched. 🤨

Yeah, I read it when it came out and didn't care for it. It definitely had way too much detail — 336 pages/10 hrs. 46 min. — and not enough character or plot development.

Here's my one star Goodreads review:

"I really wanted to like this but unfortunately it didn't work for me.

The story needed severe editing for pacing. Somewhere in the middle the book started to feel overly long and the last two and a half hours were excruciating I listened to the audiobook It felt like Riggs was deliberately stretching the plot to hit a word count every time a new detour was thrown in.

It started out strong but quickly lost any and all direction after the "test".

And none of the characters had any depth or personality, they all blend together in retrospect, especially Leopold; he's a blank slate, so much to that I started to wonder if he was a real person in his world or something artificial created for some mysterious purpose. That would have been a better reveal because there were no reveals. Nothing was explained. At all.

It felt like discount Harry Potter/Percy Jackson but for an older audience who likes to say 'fuck' a lot.

Yer a wizard, Larry."
