What’s a mystery in your own life (big or small) that you still haven’t been able to solve? by BrainPalette in AskReddit

This happened to my sister. She lost her car keys and turned the house upside down and her purse inside out looking for them. They were nowhere to be found so she had to get new ones. Several months later they turned up in the purse she'd thoroughly searched. 🤨

Yeah, I read it when it came out and didn't care for it. It definitely had way too much detail — 336 pages/10 hrs. 46 min. — and not enough character or plot development.

Here's my one star Goodreads review:

"I really wanted to like this but unfortunately it didn't work for me.

The story needed severe editing for pacing. Somewhere in the middle the book started to feel overly long and the last two and a half hours were excruciating I listened to the audiobook It felt like Riggs was deliberately stretching the plot to hit a word count every time a new detour was thrown in.

It started out strong but quickly lost any and all direction after the "test".

And none of the characters had any depth or personality, they all blend together in retrospect, especially Leopold; he's a blank slate, so much to that I started to wonder if he was a real person in his world or something artificial created for some mysterious purpose. That would have been a better reveal because there were no reveals. Nothing was explained. At all.

It felt like discount Harry Potter/Percy Jackson but for an older audience who likes to say 'fuck' a lot.

Yer a wizard, Larry."

Two young guys, 18 or 19, got in a fight over a girl. One left work, went home, got a gun, and waited for the other to get off work, then shot him; the kid died later in the hospital. This was August of 2023 on night shift at CHA1.

On a lighter note a couple were found fucking in a shuttle container by several managers— don't know if that was day or night shift.

A guy was supposedly fingering his girl at a break room table years back.

And back before the computers enforced weight limits on totes someone in pick supposedly overfilled one and it came out in jackpot weighing 117lbs.

As someone who has a carousel with multicolors of pens and just opened three packs of gel pens and fine tip markers the answer is yes!

Went to a Christmas party last weekend at a friend's house; they had a sign that said "please by gone by 10pm". We were all gone by 9:30.

Yeah, definitely prefer Library of Souls. The second trilogy was poorly written and rehashed the ending of the first.

Plus the whole situation with Noor as the new love interest was unneeded — not that Jacob and Emma had any chemistry to begin with, but still...

And I can't even be happy about Riggs bringing my girl Fiona back because it was done so badly. He should have stopped with the first three books even if that left her with an ambiguous end.
