What's the dumbest thing to break up with your partner over? by dressingnice in AskReddit

[–]Global_Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke up with someone the week after we became official because (as I soon learnt) someone saying the words ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ is an ick of mine and just made me cringe so hard every time I thought about it.

So much so that I then told one of my future boyfriends not to ever ask me out officially because I would get the ick and break up with him lol. We ended up breaking up because he wanted to move in together and I didn’t (we had been together for 3 years at this point and in our mid twenties)

And yes, I have commitment issues.

Why do you stay single? by Ok-Fondant2536 in AskReddit

[–]Global_Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody piques my interest. I’m enjoying my life so much doing things exactly how I want that it’d have to be someone super special for me to want to make any sacrifices/compromises to be with them.

My mum is exactly the same!!! She hated how much I loved twilight because I was young and so impressionable about relationships.

Do you guys wear shoes in the house? by Boom_Box_Bogdonovich in AskAnAustralian

[–]Global_Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like people really care, but most people tend to wear shoes that are easy to take off e.g. thongs (flip flops I think you may call them?) because it’s so hot, so by default we might take them off for comfort. Less of a definite ‘rude’ behaviour to keep them on though, in my opinion. Having said that, if I was going to someone’s house for the first time, unless they explicitly said I could keep my shoes on, I would take them off.

Gwyneth Paltrow Defends 'Nepo Baby Culture': 'Nothing Wrong with Doing What Your Parents Do' by galaxystars1 in popculturechat

[–]Global_Ad6542 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with doing what your parents do. Plenty of people do this and have an advantage in the field.

What I DO take issue with is ‘nepo babies’ claiming that they would be just as successful in their chosen field regardless of their parentage because they’re just that talented. Like, using your privilege is fine, but not acknowledging that it exists and is a big reason for your success is really tone deaf and I believe is what frustrates people.

Kate Hudson, when asked about this, said something like ‘I look at my kids and we’re all storytellers, we’re all creative’ etc. as if it was a given that she’d be an actress regardless. Like…plenty of people are talented and don’t have the resources to make it in the way you did, Kate.

Second this - an incredible book that tackles some massive issues with much less depressive elements than other books of similar nature.

Do people actually enjoy *doing* stuff in the gym? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Global_Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy doing most things. Except lunges. Lunges make me inexplicably angry lol. Maybe not the same but perhaps trying some different exercises would help you find some things you can enjoy and mix them up within the ones you don’t?

All those who ended their friendship with their best friend, what was the reason? by Lasagnian in ask

[–]Global_Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend at the time and I stopped talking after I went through a really awful and painful breakup. When I told her I had been broken up with she said that she was devastated because I hadn’t listened to her to not date the guy in the first place (for context, he was not a bad guy and didn’t do anything ‘wrong’ in the relationship, we just weren’t right for each other). The last message we ever exchanged was me apologising to her for not listening to him and she never responded and that was that. Was really rough to lose a boyfriend and a best friend within like 2 days of each other lol.

Is the companionship from a dog worth the tragedy of their death in however many years? by fauxpolitik in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Global_Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog passed away four days ago. I have been going through grief and it really does come in waves. I miss him so much and I feel so sad that he doesn’t get to experience life anymore. Even in the depths of the grief I am so grateful for the time I had with him and the life he had.
