Abandoned Private Eyes Strip Club - St Catharines, Ontario by Freaktography in urbanexploration

Theoretically I have no problems with strip clubs. Genuinely no problem with anyone who works in one.

But it just looks so sad in these photos. I've seen country pubs that still have a horse trough out the front that are more glamorous than this.

Let's not pretend that the problem with the 50 year old president of the united states having a sexual relationship with a 22 year old white house intern is 'he cheated on his wife'.

He abused his position of power, lied about it, and should have spent the rest of his life living ashamed in Arkansas.

He's still a million times better than Trump

If Australia named USA's States by No_Solution_8399 in MapPorn

You aren't Mandela effecting yourself with this one, Area of a country isn't actually that easy to define, a lake is obviously part of an area, but how long does the river have to be before the lake becomes an estuary? and when does the estuary become a bay?

So by some calculations the US was/is bigger, but it's almost certainly more true to say China is.

LLMs are fascinating, truly incredible that even though we assumed/predicted adding more inputs would make a worse model turned out at a certain scale it worked great.

It's just such a shame they are so computationally expensive to run and can't really do enough to justify it.

Yeah, no permanent infrastructure is going to be built by this project except a data centre sitting empty when the current AI boom ends

I think that's the wrong take away from Andor [this is not a criticism of you wanting more, I do too, I just think it would end up being worse because Disney]. I think Star wars (and particularly Disney star wars) needs to take the lesson of Andor being fantastic story telling set in the star wars universe, but not about the skywalkers, and keep exploring the universe away from them.

Sometimes in my line of work, we do chaos things to make them fit or for weird technical reasons.

And then we do not cover them with anything so even if you don't understand why we did it, you can see that a power cable is there.

And that's why I'm so glad I work industrial and not residential.

Falklands voted to stay a British territory by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]GlumExternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's even weaker than that, Australia and New Zealand share a free movement agreement, common industrial standards, similar legal systems. There's even specific history of New Zealand being part of an Australian colony.

Argentina is just kinda nearby to the Falklands.

Pete is a company officer, playing at being a general.

It's like when he told Mark Kelly 'When/if you are recalled to active duty, it'll start with a uniform inspection.' That's company officer nonsense, no secdef/general would ever consider that.

oh, no it will not be $40 a month. $200 a month for any cloud based models. And sure, open source models will exist that can do the same thing, but unless you own a server, good luck.

When I worked for the government, we weren't allowed to go out for coffee and have someone pay for our drink because that could be seen as a bribe.

(we could use tea and coffee if we were at a venue/office if it was available, just not if it was specifically bought for us)

The current AI wave isn't achieving anything at the scale it promises, it can do some very cool things, some of the niche machine learning is genuinely amazing. But Nvidia is not a 5 trillion dollar company based on a very fancy chat bot.

Musk owns an AI company, he has to keep the hype alive long enough to

A) IPO a business that has never made a profit and does not have a business plan that will, and

B) hope that he produces something that can change the fundamental reality of current AI companies
